Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Peeta Mellark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Neo Nova (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Neo Nova was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Peeta Mellark! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Neo Nova! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Dillan Fox and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mellark throws a wild body kick that Nova sees coming a mile off. Mellark throws a leg kick but Nova sees it coming and moves out of range. Mellark darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Nova throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mellark uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Nova.
Nova moves out of range of the strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mellark misses with a lunging right hand
and Nova counters with a stiff right hand. Mellark paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Mellark moves out of range of the strikes. Mellark defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Nova.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Nova swings for the body but Mellark moves out of range.

Nova throws a right hand that misses
and Mellark cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Nova swings widly with a right hand
and Mellark makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nova looks to land a left hand but Mellark moved out of range nicely. Neo Nova seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mellark moves out of range of the body kick. Nova tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Mellark misses with a body kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Nova throws a sloppy head kick enabling Mellark to counter with a crisp jab. Peeta Mellark is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Mellark moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Nova swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Nova moves into range and connects with a jab. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Peeta Mellark dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
A big left from Mellark misses. Mellark staying out of range there. Mellark moves out of range as Nova strikes. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nova thumps Mellark with a low kick. Nova thows a body shot but no joy. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nova closes this distance looking for a takedown but Mellark circles away. Nova misses with a hook
and Mellark counters with a straight right hand. Mellark moves away from the strike by Nova. Mellark wants to land a leg kick but Nova is out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Mellark walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Nova checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Mellark takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Nova misses with a hook. Mellark misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mellark connects with a looping right hand.
Nova lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
A clash of legs there as Nova blocks the low kick. Nova tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Mellark swivels and escapes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nova misses with a left hand and Mellark counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Mellark uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Nova. Nova throws a predictable looking body shot
and Mellark counters with a body kick that stops Nova in his tracks momentarily. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Nova fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Mellark is out of range. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Peeta Mellark dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
A swing and a miss from Nova. Nova misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Mellark.

and Mellark counters with a lovely straight right hand! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mellark misses with a body shot.

Nova has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Mellark finds it's way round the side to connect with Nova's head. Mellark misses with a low kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Nova misses with an uppercut
and Mellark counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Mellark ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Nova just misses with a punch to the body.
Nova checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nova on the wrong end of a nice jab. Nova on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Mellark lands with a shot to the body. Nova loads up on a big right hand but Mellark slips the punch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Nova shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Nova has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Mellark is proving hard to escape from. Nova looking to pass the guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Mellark tries to land a sweep but no joy. Nova wants to stand but Mellark has a closed guard, so he can't escape. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Peeta Mellark clearly takes that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Mellark connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Nova's hands. Nova looks to land a body kick but Mellark moved away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nova feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Mellarks jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

and Mellark counters with a nice uppercut. Nova swings and misses with a shot to the body and Mellark counters with a body kick that stops Nova in his tracks momentarily. Mellark throws a chopping leg kick but Nova manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Mellark avoids a kick to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Nova avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Peeta Mellark is winning the standup battle so far. Nova blocks the body kick.

Mellark throws a body kick, spinning off balance and Nova counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Mellark slips under a jab.

That's one minute gone in the round. Mellark wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. The fighters circling - Mellark throws out the jab but it was never going to land. A big right from Nova misses. Mellark keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Nova thows a left - swing and a miss! Neo Nova has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Nova throws a left and a right that both miss
and Mellark counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Nova bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Nova connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Mellark's hands. Peeta Mellark is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Mellark blocks a jab. Nova misses with a hook
and Mellark counters with a nice leg kick. A shot to the body from Mellark misses and Nova counters with a leg kick.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Peeta Mellark. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mellark, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
