Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Oliver Skyes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rick Story! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Daniel Franklin and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Skyes takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Story has Skyes up against the cage in a clinch.
Story breaks the clinch.
Skyes scores with a decent looking hook.
It looks like Rick Story has been cut. Skyes clinches up against the cage. A frustrated look appears on Skyes's face as he tries to break the clinch. Story escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Skyes clinches. Story lands an elbow inside. Skyes prevents a takedown attempt there.
Skyes tries to break free but Story pushes him back against the cage. Story keeps control of Skyes as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Skyes wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Story is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Story prevents Skyes from breaking the clinch. Story pulls Skyes into guard.
Story is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Story might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Skyes kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Story is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's one minute gone in the round. Story moves into full mount! Skyes won't be happy about that! Story scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Skyes?
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Poor strikes thrown by Story there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Story looking to ground and pound but Skyes is blocking nicely. Skyes really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Story controlling from mount. Skyes knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Story on the ground. Skyes is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Skyes is breathing heavily. Skyes blocking the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Skyes is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Skyes is squirming around, avoiding Story's attempts to control the action. Story is landing with some decent strikes but Skyes is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Story scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Story thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Story working away from the top, dropping strikes. Story trying to control but Skyes is having none of it. Story lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Story looking to ground and pound but Skyes is blocking nicely. Story tries to control but Skyes wriggling away. Story lands a nice shot to the head. Story wants to finish this one by submission but Skyes is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Story. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Story connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Story looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Skyes wants to get back to his feet.
Story misses with a head shot. Story has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Story tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Story trying to control but Skyes is having none of it. Story lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Story lands a big elbow.
Skyes is rocked! Skyes on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Skyes tries to get out of the position. Story lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rick Story dominated that round. The cut man is working on Rick Story's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Story throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Oh Skyes is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Story.
This has been an exciting period of action! Story fakes the leg kick and throws a superman punch. It's knocked Skyes out cold! Brutal finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:11 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Superman Punch). Rick Story!
