Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Cain Velasquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Viacheslav Eltsov!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Valeri Chadov and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velasquez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Eltsov sprawls well. Eltsov wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Velasquez gets slowly back to his feet.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Velasquez misses with a takedown attempt - Eltsov sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Velasquez shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Eltsov pinned against the cage. Eltsov gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cain Velasquez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Eltsov decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Velasquez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Eltsov tries to avoid it but Velasquez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Eltsov to the ground. Eltsov escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
The fighters circling - Eltsov throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Velasquez tries to score a power double leg takedown but Eltsov sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Velasquez somewhat.

Velasquez tries a low kick but Eltsov avoids it.

Eltsov misses with a straight right.
Eltsov throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Velasquez gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Eltsov counters with a nice uppercut.
Velasquez shoots in looking for a takedown but Eltsov manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Velasquez's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Velasquez misses with a leg kick
and Eltsov counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Velasquez uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Eltsov.

Velasquez shoots in and drives through. Eltsov sprawls well.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Velasquez.
Eltsov scores with a hook to the body. Velasquez takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Velasquez is breathing heavily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Velasquez dodges the punch combination from Eltsov.
Eltsov connects with a good right hand that stumbles Velasquez. Velasquez circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Eltsov avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Eltsov manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Velasquez manages to get himself to full guard.

Eltsov gets to his feet - Velasquez follows without any prompting.
Eltsov steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Velasquez.
Cain Velasquez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Velasquez fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

and Velasquez counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Eltsov lands a right hook to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Velasquez misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Eltsov, as that shot connected.

Velasquez drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Eltsov, as that shot connected.

Eltsov has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Viacheslav Eltsov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

and Velasquez counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Eltsov wants to stand up but Velasquez is controlling him.
Eltsov bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Velasquez's guard.
Cain Velasquez has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Velasquez is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Eltsov is controlling him.
Velasquez can't keep his opponent in guard - Eltsov advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Eltsov is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Velasquez fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

A looping hook to the body misses from Velasquez. Eltsov does a little dance to reset his feet.
Eltsov throws a half hearted mid kick.

Eltsov throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Velasquez was covering up waiting for the punch and Eltsov finishes the takedown easily into guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Velasquez is looking to sweep but instead, Eltsov has passed into half guard.

Viacheslav Eltsov comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Eltsov has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
