PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jason Bradley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gage Ruehlen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Gage Ruehlen!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Johanna Lukiainen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bradley shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Ruehlen counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Ruehlen is pressing down on Bradley's thigh, looking to free his foot. Bradley is holding on for now.
Ruehlen with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Gage Ruehlen.
Bradley tries to clinch but Ruehlen moves away

and Ruehlen decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Bradley's guard.
Ruehlenis looking to pass into half guard but Bradley pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Bradley is in guard.

Ruehlen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bradley. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Bradley won't allow Ruehlen to get back to his feet.

Ruehlen has his feet on Bradley's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Ruehlen shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Ruehlen was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Gage Ruehlen hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Ruehlen throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Bradley tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Ruehlen is in Bradley's guard.

Ruehlen drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Bradley manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ruehlen has Bradley in his guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Ruehlen has a closed guard, preventing Bradley from standing up.
Bradley is breathing heavily.
Ruehlen has control of Bradley's left arm, preventing Bradley from doing any damage.

Ruehlen has his feet on Bradley's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bradley is in a horrible position here. Ruehlen smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ruehlen goes for an armbar but Bradley turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Bradley.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bradley has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ruehlen is proving hard to escape from.

Ruehlen scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Ruehlen shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Ruehlen tries to pass to full mount but Bradley defends it.

Ruehlen looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Ruehlen drops an elbow to the side of Bradley's head.

Ruehlen stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Ruehlen moves into the clinch successfully.

Gage Ruehlen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Gage Ruehlen comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ruehlen has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
