These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Powarenko shoots in looking for a takedown. Oars tries to sprawl out of it but Powarenko keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Oars manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Powarenko avoids the body shot from Oars.

Oars clinches.
Powarenko jumps guard but Oars stands there with Powarenko around his waist. Powarenko gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Powarenko's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Oars has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Powarenko regains guard immediately.
Oars wants to pass the guard but Powarenko is keeping the position.
Oars postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Powarenko can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Oars controls the pace.
Oars wants to control from the top but Powarenko keeps moving.

Oars stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Powarenko swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Garland Oars wasn't active enough on the ground.
Oars slaps away a takedown attempt from Powarenko, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Slavonik Powarenko. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Powarenko shoots for a double leg takedown but Oars sprawls well. He's pushed Powarenko's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Powarenko shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Oars as he jumps to the side.
Powarenko dives in and grabs Oars's left leg, looking for a takedown. Oars pushes down on Powarenko's head and hops out.
Oars looks to score with a jab to the body but Powarenko is just out of range.
Powarenko avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Oars scores with a jab. Powarenko acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

It looks like Slavonik Powarenko has been cut.

Oh, that's a big right hand from Oars and Powarenko goes tumbling to the canvas! Oars follows him to the ground and looks to finish from half guard.

Oars is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Powarenko has managed to free his arm - good work.
Oh Powarenko is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Oars is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Oars lands a big elbow - Powarenko is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Oars!
