Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hugo Torres (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Alverez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Alverez's choice of entrance music: ALL DAY. Mike Alverez is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hugo Torres! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mike Alverez! The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Radbod Blank and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alverez swings and misses with a shot to the body and Torres connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Torres feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Alverezs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Alverez shoots in for a takedown but Torres shows good takedown defense. Alverez takes a body punch but keeps moving. Alverez misses with a body shot.

and Torres counters with a nice uppercut. A slow jab from Alverez misses its intended target. Torres misses with an uppercut
enabling Alverez to counter with a crisp jab. Alverez swings widly with a right hand
and Torres cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Alverez throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

That's one minute gone in the round. Torres leaves Alverez with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Hugo Torres has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Alverez. Alverez closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Alverez is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Torres knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. The referee asks Alverez politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Alverez prefers to stall for the moment though. Torres avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Alverez.

Alverez throws an elbow but Torres slips to the side and avoids it well. Alverez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Torres keeps working.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Torres throws Alverez to one side and escapes! Alverez fails to land with a series of punches.
Alverez doesn't succeed with the takedown letting Torres counter with a right hand. Torres scoring well with a low kick there.
Alverez misses with a shot to the body and Torres counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Torres lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Alverez dives in and scores a takedown into Torres's guard. Alverez won't allow Torres to sweep him here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Alverez wants to control from the top but Torres keeps moving. Torres pulls Alverez in close to prevent any damage. Alverez throws a strike but Torres rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Alverez wants to get back to his feet but Torres passes into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Hugo Torres will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Torres misses with a right hand and Alverez counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Alverez wants to take a breather but Torres is having none of it. Alverez wants to pass to mount but Torres is defending the position. Alverez is looking for a kimura here.

Let's hope that Alverez has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Torres is staying active underneath Alverez, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Alverez is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Torres is just riding it out for now. Alverez eventually gives up the hold. Alverez not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Torres keeps control of the position for the meantime. Alverez is looking to pass Torres's guard but actually Torres recovers to full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alverez looking to sit in guard and control but Torres gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Torres has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Alverez wants to sweep here but Torres controlling him for the moment.

Alverez is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Torres rather than just go for the knockout. Torres throws a low kick but Alverez moves out of range easily. Alverez swings and misses with a shot to the body and Torres counters with a nice low kick that buckles Alverez's knee momentarily. Alverez throws a right and a left that Torres avoids nicely. Alverez misses the body punch and Alverez takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Alverez steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Torres. Torres slips under a jab from Alverez. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Alverez ducks under a wild hook from Torres. Alverez misses with a takedown and Torres counters with a leg kick. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mike Alverez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Alverez pushes Torres against the cage but Torres circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Alverez keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Torres misses the body punch and Alverez counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Torres's guard now. Alverez throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Torres works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Torres tries to land a sweep but no joy. Alverez thows a big elbow that misses. Alverez loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Alverez trying to control the position from guard on top but Torres is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Alverez throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Torres works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Torres keeping moving, preventing Alverez from controlling successfully. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Mike Alverez was stalling too much, according to the referee. Torres throws a nice inside leg kick.
And that's the end of the fight! Hugo Torres showed his dominance in that final round. I think Torres has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
