Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jake Rosholt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Benjy Bronk! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Russell Pearce and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rosholt shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Rosholt showed some decent athleticism there. Rosholt is controlling the pace.
Bronk moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Rosholt engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
That's one minute gone in the round. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jake Rosholt. Bronk misses with a takedown and Rosholt decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Bronk's guard. Bronk is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Bronk looks gassed! Rosholt controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rosholt seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Bronk for as long as he can get away with. Bronk is trying to control the position but Rosholt postures up. Rosholt not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Jake Rosholt just wasn't active enough. Bronk tries to clinch but Rosholt moves away and Rosholt counters with a nice double leg into side control. Bronk won't be happy with that.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rosholt slows the pace down. Rosholt is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Bronk knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Bronk tries to improve position but can't. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rosholt gets to mount! Bronk was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Rosholt content just to control the position here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jake Rosholt dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Rosholt scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Rosholt lands with a punch from half guard. Rosholt looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Bronk is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rosholt trying to mount his opponent but Bronk defends it.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jake Rosholt. Rosholt shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Rosholt tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Rosholt has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jake Rosholt. Excellent takedown into side control there by Rosholt. Rosholt scoring with punches and elbows. Rosholt working away. Rosholt in side control, just content to control the action for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rosholt tries to advance to mount but can't. Rosholt happy to just control the position for now. Jake Rosholt dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Rosholt pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Bronk tries to sprawl but Rosholt drives through with a takedown into half guard. Rosholt trying to control the pace. Rosholt wants to free his trapped foot but Bronk is holding on for dear life with his legs. Bronk takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Bronk is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Rosholt scores with a couple of nice shots.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rosholt is figuring out what he wants to do next. Rosholt tries to pass to full mount but Bronk defends it. Rosholt controlling the action here. Rosholt passes the guard and advances to mount! Rosholt takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bronk is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Rosholt controlling the pace for now.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jake Rosholt. Rosholt scores with a takedown into Bronk's guard. Rosholt is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jake Rosholt. A looping hook to the body misses from Rosholt. Bronk does a little dance to reset his feet.
