PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Aaron Tanner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rob Hamilton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tanner comes to the cage accompanied by Come What(ever) May. Hamilton is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: OTC- why can't i. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aaron Tanner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rob Hamilton!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hamilton clinches up against the cage.
Tanner stalling in the clinch but Hamilton improves position.
Tanner goes for a takedown attempt but Hamilton pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Hamilton uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Tanner is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
A slapping leg kick lands for Tanner.
Hamilton shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Tanner but Tanner pushes him off and we're back to square one.

and Hamilton counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Tanner can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hamilton controls the pace.
I looks like Hamilton might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Tanner has a closed guard, preventing Hamilton from standing up.

Hamilton slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Hamilton's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Tanner is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Tanner is breathing heavily.
Tanner wants to stand and escape but Hamilton is having none of it.
Hamilton won't allow Tanner to sweep him here.
Hamilton slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Hamilton stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tanner swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Hamilton bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Hamilton misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Tanner is trying desperately to improve position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Let's hope that Hamilton has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Tanner tries to reverse the position but Hamilton maintains control.
Hamilton wants to take his opponent's back but Tanner doesn't allow it.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Tanner has had enough of the clinch but Hamilton keeps him there for the moment.
Hamilton is working for takedown but Tanner is calmly controlling the position for now.

Hamilton changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Tanner looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Rob Hamilton showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Hamilton shoots in but Tanner avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Tanner wants to clinch up but Hamilton keeps it at a distance.

Tanner escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Tanner connects with a good right hand that stumbles Hamilton. Hamilton circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Tanner tries to roll over but Hamilton keeps him under control.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Hamilton has Tanner pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Tanner manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Aaron Tanner has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Tanner is pressed up against the cage. Hamilton has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Tanner down to the mat. Tanner avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Tanner shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hamilton pinned against the cage. Hamilton gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Rob Hamilton comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Hamilton winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
