Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gordon Hood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Todd Nieds (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gordon Hood!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Todd Nieds!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Summer Carpenter and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nieds buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Hood misses with a takedown attempt - Nieds sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Hood gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Nieds counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Nieds throws a sloppy head kick and Hood moves out of range easily.
Nieds connects with an inside leg kick.
Hood has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gordon Hood. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hood shoots in for a takedown but Nieds shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Nieds misses with a hook
and Hood counters with a one-two to the body.
Nieds cracks a nice hook into Hood's ribs.

Nieds misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Hood.
Nieds tried to score with a low kick but Hood checks it.
Hood looks for a takedown but Nieds sprawls well.
Nieds fails in his attempt to clinch.
Hood shoots for a double leg takedown but Nieds sprawls well. He's pushed Hood's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Hood shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Nieds is looking to improve his position but Hood isn't that keen on the idea.

Hood lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Nieds hang on?
Hood has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Nieds's face.
Nieds working to try and regain half guard.
Nieds is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Hood can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Nieds is looking to escape.
Nieds is in all sorts of trouble here.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hood trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Nieds wants to control but Hood is having none of it.

That was a close round but I would say that Gordon Hood will probably get the nod.

Nieds defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hood.

Gordon Hood is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nieds scores with a hook to the body. Hood takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Hood changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Nieds tries to avoid it but Hood manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Nieds to the ground. Nieds escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Nice straight punches there by Nieds. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Nieds.

and Nieds counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hood misses with a double jab
and Nieds connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Nieds cracks the inside of Hood's front leg.
Nieds lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Nieds swings for the body but Hood moves out of range.
Hood is trying hard to land a takedown here. Nieds sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Nieds shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Hood eats them both and turns towards Nieds to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Nieds throws a leg kick which misses Hood's front leg but catches the back leg as Hood tries to avoid it.

Hood throws a right hand that Nieds ducks under and follows up with a left that Nieds also avoids with ease.
Nieds connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Hood has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Nieds finds it's way round the side to connect with Hood's head.
Todd Nieds seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Nieds waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Hood.
Nieds just misses with a punch to the body.
Hood takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Hood checks a leg kick.
Hood shoots in looking for a takedown. Nieds tries to sprawl out of it but Hood keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nieds manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Nieds throws out a loose jab but Hood uses good head movement to avoid it.

Hood looking to score a takedown here. Nieds is defending well but Hood drives through and ends up in Nieds's guard.
Hood has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nieds keeping moving, preventing Hood from controlling successfully.
Hood postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Todd Nieds showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hood takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Nieds lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Hood backs up against the cage.
Hood bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Nieds plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Hood is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Hood looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Hood takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
