Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Dirrell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brandon Vera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dirrell comes to the cage accompanied by Shinedown - Diamond Eyes. David Dirrell has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, David Dirrell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brandon Vera! The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vera gets in close and instigates a clinch. Vera is trying to break free. Vera tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Vera is trying to trip Dirrell. He has hold of a leg but Dirrell is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Vera persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Dirrell keeping moving, preventing Vera from controlling successfully. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Dirrell holds on and takes a little breather. Vera is looking to work some ground and pound but Dirrell has wrist control. Vera wants to control from the top but Dirrell keeps moving. Dirrell trying to control the position here. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Vera gets a takedown into half guard. Dirrell is looking for a sweep. Vera is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dirrell is pressing down on Vera's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Vera wants to stand but Dirrell has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Dirrell pushes Vera off and gets back to his feet.
Vera moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Jab, jab by Vera - just one landing. Dirrell dives in and scores a takedown into Vera's guard. Vera is working an open guard so Dirrell takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Vera clinches with his opponent.
Vera turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Vera manages to end up in side control. Dirrell is trying to work for a sweep but Vera has mounted him!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dirrell is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Vera is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Dirrell has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Vera sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Dirrell wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Vera.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dirrell holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Vera tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Vera has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Vera sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Vera looking to ground and pound but Dirrell is blocking nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dirrell bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Dirrell is breathing heavily. Dirrell with a nice head shot there. Vera working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dirrell doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dirrell manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Vera is looking for a triangle but Dirrell pushes his legs off easily.
Dirrell lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Vera looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Dirrell puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Vera looking for submissions off his back.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dirrell stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Vera to get to his feet. Vera looking to score a takedown here. Dirrell is defending well but Vera drives through and ends up in Dirrell's guard. Vera trying to control but Dirrell is working from the bottom. Vera stops Dirrell from standing up. Vera pushes down on Dirrell's leg and manages to get into half guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Dirrell gets back to full guard.
Vera thows a big elbow that misses. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brandon Vera dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Vera closes the distance and clinches. Dirrell has picked Vera up - he's going for a ride! Dirrell dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Vera kicks Dirrell off and gets back to his feet. Vera darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Vera throwing shots but Dirrell is blocking nicely. Vera is looking for a kimura here.
Dirrell tries to roll over but Vera keeps him under control. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dirrell manages to get to full guard.
Vera advances position into side control! Vera wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dirrell keeps working. Vera tries to stand but Dirrell is controlling his head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Vera wants to control but Dirrell is keeping him busy. Dirrell can't do much from the bottom here. Dirrell tries to strike from the bottom but misses. Vera is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Dirrell is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Dirrell tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Vera wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vera is looking to take a break and control but Dirrell is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Vera might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Dirrell kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Vera is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Dirrell knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Vera working the ground and pound but Dirrell is defending the strikes. Vera working away. Vera tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Vera trying to control the action but Dirrell is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brandon Vera showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!
Dirrell shoots in but no luck this time. Vera manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Dirrell on his heels. He'll look to pass Dirrell's guard now, I'm sure. Vera tries to free his leg and advance position but Dirrell is retaining full guard. Dirrell is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Vera defends well. Vera wants to control from the top but Dirrell keeps moving. Vera wants to get up but he can't break Dirrell's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Dirrell keeping moving, preventing Vera from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Dirrell looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Vera throws a big right hand that misses. Dirrell keeping moving, preventing Vera from controlling successfully. Vera not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Brandon Vera hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Dirrell takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Vera decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Dirrell won't allow Vera to pass to mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vera looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Dirrell wants to get back to his feet. Vera tries to stand but can't do so whilst Dirrell controls his leg. Brandon Vera has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vera trying to pass the guard but Dirrell defending well. Vera is trying to control. Dirrell wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Vera stops Dirrell from getting back to his feet.
Vera wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dirrell keeps working. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Vera tries to pass to full mount but Dirrell defends it. Dirrell is staying active underneath Vera, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Brandon Vera wasn't active enough on the ground. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Dirrell is defended easily by Vera. Vera goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Vera tests Dirrell's chin there with a solid looking shot. Vera lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Vera scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Vera connects with a solid leg kick. Vera lands a jab-cross combination. Vera moves into range and clinches up with Dirrell. Dirrell has Vera pressed against the cage, preventing Vera from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Vera has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Dirrell is trying to keep an underhook but Vera manages to get the takedown into half guard. Vera is pressing down on Dirrell's thigh, looking to free his foot. Dirrell is holding on for now. Vera is looking for a kimura but Dirrell is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Vera to get the leverage.
And that's the end of the fight! Brandon Vera comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Vera has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
