PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Evan Tannur (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Resin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tannur comes to the cage accompanied by Desert Rose. Phil Resin told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Evan Tannur!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Phil Resin!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Tarja Halkonen and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Resin with a poor takedown
and Tannur counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Resin looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Tannur throwing shots but Resin is blocking nicely.
Resin is in trouble now - Tannur has advanced to mount!
Tannur content just to control the position here.
Tannur's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Tannur seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Resin for as long as he can get away with.
Tannur is landing with some decent strikes but Resin is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Resin is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Tannur jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Resin manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Tannur has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Tannur content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Resin is trying to control Tannur's posture but Tannur avoids it.
Tannur lands an elbow.
Tannur works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Resin is trying to escape the position but Tannur is controlling the position.
Tannur tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Tannur slows the pace down.
Resin is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Tannur is controlling the pace.
Resin manages to get to full guard.
Tannur slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Tannur passes Resin's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Resin moves into full guard.
Resin has his foot on Tannur's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Tannur works his way back into a safe position though.
Tannur tries to free his leg and advance position but Resin is retaining full guard.
Resin has his feet on Tannur's thighs here. He's pushed Tannur off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Tannur screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
