The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Nakumura.
Nakumura fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Nakumura is defended easily by Sanchez.

Sanchez looks to clinch
and Nakumura counters with a stiff right hand.
Nakumura shoots in looking for a takedown. Sanchez tries to sprawl out of it but Nakumura keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sanchez manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Nakumura fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Sanchez avoids it really well and circles away.

Nakumura closes the distance and clinches up with Sanchez, looking for a takedown. Nakumura pushes Sanchez against the cage but Sanchez circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

The fight stays on the outside here - Sanchez looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Nakumura chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Sanchez can pounce on him.

Sanchez tries to close the distance and clinch but Nakumura swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Nakumura is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Sanchez's half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The crowd cheers as Sanchez lands an impressive looking overhand right. Nakumura doesn't seem phased though.

and Nakumura counters with a nice low kick that buckles Sanchez's knee momentarily.
Nakumura shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sanchez pinned against the cage. Sanchez gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

and Nakumura makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Sanchez really felt that one!

Nakumura lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Sanchez circles away quickly and effectively.

Nakumura keeps the fight on the outside.
Nakumura changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sanchez tries to avoid it but Nakumura manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sanchez to the ground. Sanchez escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Nakumura circles away from the clinch attempt.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sanchez looks for a left high kick but can't connect. Sanchez backs up to catch a breather... no he lunges forward with a huge flying knee that smacks Nakumura's temple! It sends Nakumura violently to the canvas! The crowd goes nuts as Sanchez celebrates and the doctors try to help Nakumura!
