PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Vegas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kayden Kage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vegas comes to the cage accompanied by Jack Vegas by MNEMIC. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Vegas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kayden Kage!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Chris Downing and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vegas shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kage's guard.
Vegas trying to control the position from guard on top but Kage is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kage looking to control.
Vegas won't allow Kage to sweep him here.
Vegas controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Vegas stands up and waves to Kage to follow him.
Vegas lands the left hand.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Kage tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Vegas smiles and moves away.

Vegas looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kage looks gassed!
Vegas is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kage has momentary wrist control but Vegas slips an elbow through the middle.
Vegas looking to pass the guard.
Vegas knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kage on the ground.
Vegas postures up and lands a big shot to Kage's brow.
Kage throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Vegas trying to control the position from guard on top but Kage is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Vegas tries to free his leg and advance position but Kage is retaining full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Vegas shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kage's guard.

Vegas decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Kage, up you get!
Kage tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Vegas counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Kage is trying to get back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Vegas trying to mount his opponent but Kage defends it.
Kage manages to get to full guard.

Kage wriggles free and stands up.
Kage tries for a takedown but Vegas circles away easily
and Vegas counters with a stiff right hand.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nice takedown defense from Vegas. No joy for Kage on that attempt.
Jack Vegas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kayden Kage.

Vegas closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kage to the mat! Kage manages to get full guard.
Kage looking to hit a scissor sweep but Vegas is one step ahead there.

Kage manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Vegas manages to get himself to full guard.
Kage showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Kage wants to get up but he can't break Vegas's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Vegas has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Kage has passed into side control.

Kage postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Vegas looking for a sweep but Kage has passed into full mount! Oh no!

Vegas is trying desperately to improve position.

Kage wants to finish this one by submission but Vegas is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Kage.
Vegas wants to control but Kage is having none of it.
Kage wants to control the pace but Vegas is squirming around nicely.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Kage working for a guillotine from mount but Vegas is in no mood to give up.
Vegas is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Kage throws a leg kick that misses.

Vegas moves into range and clinches up with Kage.

Kage is fighting off a takedown attempt but Vegas is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Kage to the mat. Kage regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Vegas would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Kage wants to get back to his feet but Vegas is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Kage is trying to control the position but Vegas postures up.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Vegas looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Vegas is in close to Kage's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Jack Vegas overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A solid body kick from Vegas.

Kage closes the distance looking to clinch
and Vegas counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Vegas moves into the clinch.
Vegas fails to pull guard.
Kage stalling in the clinch but Vegas improves position.
Vegas is looking to break free of the clinch but Kage has double underhooks.

Vegas manages to break the clinch.
Kage fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Vegas closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Vegas is looking to stall here but Kage recovers full guard.
Kage has Vegas pulled in close to control his posture.
Vegas looking to sit in guard and control but Kage gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Vegas is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Kage postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Vegas seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Vegas is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Vegas trying to control the action but Kage is working from the bottom.

Vegas gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Vegas shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Vegas was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Vegas goes for an armbar but Kage turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Kage.

Vegas is looking to sweep but instead, Kage has passed into half guard.
Vegas is looking to control Kage's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Vegas avoid being mounted?
Vegas pushes Kage off but Kage dives into side control.
Vegas trying his best to control but Kage has mounted him.
Vegas holds of for dear life.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Jack Vegas just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Vegas rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kage moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Vegas slips a jab and a cross from Kage.
Vegas throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Kage counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Vegas!
This has been an exciting period of action!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Vegas keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Vegas dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Kage shoots for a takedown but Vegas saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Vegas lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.


It looks like Kayden Kage has been cut.

Vegas gets the takedown into side control.
Kage is not content to let Vegas control the position.

Vegas stands up and beckons Kage to his feet.

Vegas shoots in and bounces Kage off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Vegas is in close to Kage's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Vegas's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Vegas controls from within his opponent's guard.
Kage takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Vegas trying to control the position from guard on top but Kage is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Kage keeping full guard, as Vegas tries to pass.
Vegas wants to stand and escape but instead Kage has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Vegas looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Kage trying to control the position from guard on top but Vegas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Kage drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kage jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Vegas has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kage can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Vegas on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Vegas tries to get out of the position.
Vegas wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Kage tries to kick Vegas off but Vegas keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Vegas wants to take a breather but Kage is having none of it.

Kage is looking to control Vegas's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kage avoid being mounted?

Vegas fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kage sprawls well initially but Vegas persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Kage trying to hold on to Vegas's head to control him but Vegas postures up.
Vegas wants to take a breather but Kage is having none of it.
Kage is trying to maintain the position but Vegas is very close to passing his half guard.
Kage preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Vegas is tying to control. Kage wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

and Vegas decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kage's guard.
Kayden Kage has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Vegas accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jack Vegas showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Vegas has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
