Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hominick Tenisk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hominick Tenisk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Phil Davis!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Steve Erwin and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Davis gets caught flat footed, as Tenisk shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Davis wants to stand but Tenisk is controlling the position.
Davis looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Tenisk won't allow Davis to sweep him here.
Davis seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Phil Davis has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Davis has Tenisk up against the cage in a clinch.

Tenisk misses with a short punch on the inside.
Davis tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Davis is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Phil Davis hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Tenisk fails with the takedown
and Davis counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Tenisk tries for a takedown but Davis circles away easily

so Davis counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Davis pushes down on Tenisk's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Davis frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Davis is working for a guillotine from mount but Tenisk frees his head quite easily.
Davis takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Davis looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Tenisk wants to hold on but Davis pushes him away.
Davis controlling from mount.
Davis prevents Tenisk from getting the reversal.
Tenisk is breathing heavily.
Davis sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Phil Davis.
Tenisk has his takedown stuffed

and Davis counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Davis.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hominick Tenisk. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Davis is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Davis postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Tenisk can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Davis controls the pace.

and Davis counters with a takedown into side control.
Davis happy to just control the position for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tenisk on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Tenisk is being controlled here.
Davis landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Davis is staying tight to Tenisk's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Davis's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Let's hope that Davis has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Phil Davis was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Tenisk shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Davis counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Davis controlling the pace.

Davis postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Tenisk to stand up.

Davis drives through and clinches with Tenisk against the cage.

Davis pulls guard effortlessly.

Davis pushes Tenisk off and gets back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Davis lands a jab to Tenisk's midsection.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Davis changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Tenisk looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Tenisk seems a little lost for a moment, as Davis dominates the positioning.
Davis scores with punches from side control.
Davis controlling from side mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Davis decides to stand back up.

Davis scores with a takedown into Tenisk's guard.
Davis engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Davis cracks Tenisk with a solid left hand.
Davis is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Phil Davis was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Davis closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Tenisk did well to prevent Davis getting side control.
Phil Davis has got the better of the ground game so far.
Davis content to control rather than advance.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Phil Davis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Davis is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Tenisk will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Davis tries for a kimura but Tenisk is defending well.
Tenisk is working to avoid the ground and pound but Davis connects with a decent elbow.

Davis has hold of Tenisk's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Tenisk tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Davis cranks the arm and Tenisk screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Tenisk, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:19 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Phil Davis!
