Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Orlando Melendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marlo Bell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Melendez swats away the attempt to clinch by Bell. Bell fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Melendez, pushing him back against the cage. Bell pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Bell tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
A bit of stalling here from Bell.
Melendez has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Bell is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Bell lands a shot to the body. Bell utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. Melendez is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Bell pulls him back up using the underhooks. Melendez managing to block the knees to the body from Bell.
Bell is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Bell is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. A left hand lands to the body for Bell.
Bell pulls guard successfully.
Melendez drops back looking for a leg! Bell is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bell manages to kick Melendez off! Melendez jumps back into Bell's guard. Melendez being controlled here momentarily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Melendez prevents Bell from getting back to his feet. Melendez wants to pass the guard but Bell is keeping the position. Melendez won't allow Bell to get back to his feet. Melendez thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Bell really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Melendez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Bell keeping moving, preventing Melendez from controlling successfully. Bell throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Melendez looking to pass the guard. Melendez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Bell wants to sweep but no luck. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bell can do anything to dispel that myth. Melendez drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Melendez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Melendez postures up.
Melendez forces his way into half guard. Melendez trying to control from half guard but Bell is working away. Melendez is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bell wants to improve his position but Melendez is controlling well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Melendez is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Melendez is looking for a kimura but Bell is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Melendez to get the leverage. Melendez not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Melendez is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Melendez is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bell is just riding it out for now. Melendez eventually gives up the hold. Bell wants to get back to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Melendez is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Melendez is working for a submission of some sort.
Bell tries to kick Melendez off but Melendez keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Bell wants to control but Melendez is keeping busy and won't allow it. Melendez is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Melendez is trying to work for a kimura but Bell is defending well.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Orlando Melendez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Melendez swats away the attempt to clinch by Bell. Melendez shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Bell as he jumps to the side. Bell tries to clinch there but Melendez circles away.
Melendez has his takedown stuffed and Bell counters with a shoot takedown. Melendez fights it but they end up in guard. Bell is looking to work some ground and pound but Melendez has wrist control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Melendez is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Bell rolls with it to try and escape but Melendez cranks on the arm and Bell is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
