PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Larry Cass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dirty Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Dirty Sanchez was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Larry Cass!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dirty Sanchez!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanchez throws a head kick that Cass semi-blocks.
Sanchez pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Sanchez throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Sanchez scores with a three punch combo!
Sanchez is looking to clinch.
Sanchez tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Cass shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sanchez as he avoids it easily.
Cass shoots in for a takedown but Sanchez shows good takedown defense.
Cass fails with the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Larry Cass. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Sanchez.

Cass looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sanchez is fending him off so far but Cass persists. Nope, Sanchez circles away and we're back to standing.
Cass shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sanchez but Sanchez pushes him off and we're back to square one.

The fight stays on the outside here - Sanchez looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

and Cass counters with a shoot takedown. Sanchez fights it but they end up in guard.

Sanchez is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Sanchez uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Sanchez throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Sanchez fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Cass shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Sanchez pushes Cass off looking to stand but Cass dives back in and keeps control.

Well, if Cass is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Cass works his way into side control.
Cass working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Cass is putting a hurting on Sanchez here, landing some big shots from side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Cass decides to stand back up. Cass steps back and let's Sanchez get back to his feet.
A head kick misses from Sanchez.
Cass shoots in looking for a takedown. Sanchez tries to sprawl out of it but Cass keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sanchez manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Cass closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Sanchez should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Sanchez is refusing to be controlled, as Cass sits in half guard.
Cass stalling.

Sanchez is staying active underneath Cass, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Cass drops an elbow to the side of Sanchez's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cass tries to pass to full mount but Sanchez defends it.

Sanchez kicks off Cass and gets to his feet.

Cass takes the fight into the clinch.
Cass is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Cass prevents a takedown attempt there.

Cass is trying to trip Sanchez. He has hold of a leg but Sanchez is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Cass persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Cass decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Sanchez is trying to get back to his feet.
Sanchez is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Cass's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Sanchez throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Sanchez is looking for a sweep. Cass is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Cass wants to stand up but Sanchez is controlling the position.
Sanchez is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Cass's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Cass's back!
Sanchez scores with punches from the back.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sanchez is trying to stick to Cass's back but Cass is turning into Sanchez. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Sanchez's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Cass.
Sanchez is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Sanchez is working an open guard so Cass takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sanchez swats away the attempt to clinch by Cass.
Sanchez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Larry Cass will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!

and Cass counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Cass.

Cass stops Sanchez from standing up.
Sanchez not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cass wants to control from the top but Sanchez keeps moving.
Cass in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Sanchez wants to sweep here but Cass controlling him for the moment.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Sanchez closes this distance looking for a takedown but Cass circles away.

Horrible takedown by Cass or perhaps it was just good defense by Sanchez which made him look bad.

Cass stands up and waves to Sanchez to follow him.
Sanchez shoots in for a double leg but Cass sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Larry Cass has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dirty Sanchez.

Sanchez drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!

so Cass counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Cass wants to control from the top but Sanchez keeps moving.
Sanchez wants to stand and escape but Cass is having none of it.

Sanchez lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Cass!
Sanchez lands a big shot there that rocks Cass but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Sanchez postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Cass looks a forlorn figure.
Sanchez looking to control but Cass is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Cass is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Sanchez sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Sanchez can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Cass is looking to escape.
Poor strikes thrown by Sanchez there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Cass wants to control but Sanchez is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Sanchez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Cass holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Sanchez tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Cass.
Sanchez prevents Cass from improving his position.
Cass on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Cass tries to get out of the position.
Sanchez wants to control but Cass is keeping him busy.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Sanchez lands a nice short elbow.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cass wants to get back to full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Sanchez is looking to clinch but Cass is avoiding it.
Sanchez stuffs the takedown attempt from Cass. Cass gets slowly back to his feet.

Sanchez moves into range and clinches up with Cass.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Larry Cass dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Cass doesn't manage to clinch there - Sanchez circles away.
Cass tries to clinch up but Sanchez circles away and keeps his distance.

Sanchez rushes Cass and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Cass is pressed up against the cage. Sanchez has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Cass down to the mat. Cass avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Sanchez fails to land the takedown.

Cass gets a takedown into half guard.

Cass is looking for a kimura but Sanchez is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Cass to get the leverage.

Sanchez takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Cass lands a nice short elbow.

Sanchez is trying to stand up here but Cass is controlling him well.

Sanchez is looking for a sweep. Cass is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Sanchez moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Cass stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sanchez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Sanchez uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Sanchez closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Sanchez with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Nice sprawl there from Sanchez as Cass shoots in.
Sanchez throws a head kick but Cass moves out of range.
Cass keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Larry Cass has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dirty Sanchez.

Sanchez shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Sanchez slips a nice elbow through Cass's hands, connecting with Cass's forehead.

The fighters are battling for position here. Cass manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Sanchez's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Larry Cass.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cass, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
