Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Luke Withers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Wiggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Withers comes to the cage accompanied by Who was in my room last night. John Wiggs acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Luke Withers!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Wiggs!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, David Schapiro and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Withers darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Wiggs has one foot on Withers's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Wiggs swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Wiggs throws a right hand that Withers ducks under and follows up with a left that Withers also avoids with ease.
Wiggs throws a jab when Withers was well out of range.

Wiggs bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Withers is looking to reverse the position.
Withers misses with an elbow from the bottom.
Wiggs wants to control but Withers is keeping him busy.
Wiggs throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Withers holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.
Wiggs fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Withers tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Wiggs wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Wiggs misses with a looping right.
Withers throws a lazy right hand but Wiggs sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Wiggs has his takedown stuffed
and Withers counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Withers feints and then cracks Wiggs's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Wiggs down.

Wiggs tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Wiggs is looking to regain half guard here but Withers keeps moving and retains side control.

Withers tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Withers has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Wiggs is staying active underneath Withers, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

That was a close round but I would say that Luke Withers will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Withers connects with a nice short shot to Wiggs's temple.

Withers closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Wiggs is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Withers's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Withers's back!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Withers bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Wiggs's head.
Withers clobbers Wiggs with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Withers is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Wiggs takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Withers lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Wiggs throws a lazy head kick
and Withers counters with an inside leg kick.

and Withers counters with a nice double leg into side control. Wiggs won't be happy with that.
Withers looks up at the clock and then as Wiggs takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Withers smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Withers on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Wiggs throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.


Withers is rocked!
Withers seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Wiggs shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Withers is backing up but Wiggs catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Withers covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Wiggs Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:12 of round 4, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Wiggs! John Wiggs retains his welterweight title!
