Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matthew Jacobs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tj Marks!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jacobs feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Marks looking for a guillotine here but Jacobs defends easily.
Marks is trying to control the position but Jacobs postures up.
Jacobs will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Marks is pushing down on Jacobs's leg trying to pass to half guard. Jacobs is fighting to maintain full guard but Marks has managed to sneak the leg through.
Marks looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Jacobs makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Jacobs.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Marks accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Jacobs isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Marks stacks Jacobs on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Marks!

Marks decides to stand up, so the ref orders Jacobs to his feet.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

We're going to have a standup here because Matthew Jacobs wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Jacobs has hold of Marks's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Marks manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

so Marks counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Marks bucks up and throws Jacobs to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Jacobs shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Marks sprawls well. Marks wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Jacobs gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matthew Jacobs. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jacobs, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
