Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Takehiko Takaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dakota Royer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Takaki comes into the arena with Mahavishnu Orchestra - Meeting Of The Spirits blaring out of the sound system. Royer has chosen Speak Militant- Sabac Red as his entrance music. Dakota Royer has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Takehiko Takaki!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dakota Royer!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Royer takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Royer throws a lazy head kick
and Takaki counters with a body kick that stops Royer in his tracks momentarily.
Royer takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Royer swings widly with a right hand
and Takaki counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Royer throws a sloppy head kick
and Takaki counters with a right hand to the body.

and Takaki counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Royer's guard now.
Takaki stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Royer swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Takaki tries to free his leg and advance position but Royer is retaining full guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Dakota Royer is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Takaki throws a push kick but Royer slaps the foot to one side.
Takaki displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Royer throws out the jab.
Takaki misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Takaki throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Royer stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Royer wants it to stay on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
