The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santiago slips a jab and a cross from Paul.
Paul swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Santiago counters with a stiff right hand.
Paul misses with a series of wild punches.
Santiago throws a series of punches but Paul moves out of range.
Paul throws a left and a right that both miss
and Santiago counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Paul throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Santiago counters with a nice uppercut.
Paul slips under a jab.
Paul rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
enabling Santiago to counter with a crisp jab.
Paul swings widly with a right hand
and Santiago cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Santiago misses with a series of wild punches.
Paul with a jab.
Santiago doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Paul throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
letting Santiago counter with a right hand.
Paul swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Santiago counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Paul falls off balance throwing a combination

Paul lands with a hook. Santiago tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Paul throws a poor cross that misses
and Santiago counters with a right hand to the body.
John Paul seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Santiago tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Paul was well out of range. Poor timing from Santiago.
Paul misses with a jab to the body
and Santiago counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Paul throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Santiago counters with a two punch combo.
Paul walks into a left hand.
Paul misses with a right hand
and Santiago counters with a series of strikes. Paul will be more careful next time no doubt.
Santiago throws a body punch but Paul moves out of range.
Paul walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Paul is rocked!
Santiago lunges in with a left hook that violently twists Paul head around and knocks him out cold! Santiago hops onto the cage and yells out at the top of his lungs - Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaah! They're showing the replay on the big screens now; that was nasty! I hope one of the photographers got a good shot of it.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Badau Santiago!
