11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Kevin Handelman! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Ackerman and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wooney fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Handelman avoids it really well and circles away. Wooney shoots in for a takedown but Handelman shows good takedown defense. Wooney fails to land the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rayne Wooney. That's going to take a lot out of him. Handelman clinches up with Wooney and pushes him back against the cage. Handelman tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Wooney blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
A right hook to the body lands for Wooney.
Wooney tries to work over Handelman's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Wooney unloads a knee to the mid-section. Handelman lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Handelman digs a right hand underneath Wooney's ribcage. Wooney let out a lung full of air as it connected. Wooney wants a takedown but no success here.

Wooney tries to pull guard but Handelman holds him up against the cage and eventually Wooney drops back down to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round. Handelman softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Handelman tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Wooney's elbow. Wooney putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Handelman in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. Wooney escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Wooney shoots in for a takedown but Handelman shows good takedown defense. Wooney shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Handelman defends it nicely. Handelman fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Wooney, pushing him back against the cage. Wooney misses with a knee strike.
Wooney unloads a knee to the mid-section. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Handelman tries to work over Wooney's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Wooney lands a good knee to the midsection. Handelman won't want to take too many of those. Handelman lands with a short shot to the head. Handelman scores with a shoulder strike. Wooney breaks from the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Jab, jab by Wooney - just one landing. Wooney shoots in for a double leg but Handelman sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Wooney shoots in looking for a takedown but Handelman manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Wooney's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Handelman stuffs the takedown. Rayne Wooney seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wooney drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Handelman can do anything to dispel that myth. You can see the frustration on Handelman's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wooney wants to lay and pray for a moment but Handelman keeps working. Handelman is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Handelman tries to get back to half guard but can't. Wooney controlling the position from side mount. Handelman is looking for a sweep. Wooney is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Handelman has escaped the position, nice work there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wooney is looking to take a break and control but Handelman is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Handelman is trying to improve his position. Handelman is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Wooney asserts his dominance and retains side control. Wooney happy to just control the position for now. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! You can see the frustration on Handelman's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Wooney trying to control the position here. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
That's one minute gone in the round. Handelman wants to stand but Wooney has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Handelman wants to control from the top but Wooney keeps moving. Wooney trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Wooney controlling the position.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Rayne Wooney just wasn't active enough. Handelman dodges the punch combination from Wooney.
Wooney looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Handelman! Handelman is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Handelman has given up his back, trying to stand up. Not clever. Handelman really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wooney. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Wooney avoiding Handelman 's attempts to control his hands. Wooney is persistently looking for the submission but Handelman is defending it well.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Handelman trying to control the hands but Wooney won't let him. Wooney trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Wooney is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Handelman with him. Handelman is trying to defend but Wooney has an arm under the chin now! Handelman grimaces and is forced to tap out!
