Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sal Kelly! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, James Glennon! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Lou da Vinci and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kelly looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Glennon! Glennon is squirming around, avoiding Kelly's attempts to control the action. Glennon is desperately trying to improve his position but Kelly has a good base and remains in mount. Kelly trying to control but Glennon is having none of it. Glennon is trying desperately to improve position. Kelly working the ground and pound effectively.
Glennon is working to get back to half guard.
Kelly wants to control the pace but Glennon is squirming around nicely. Kelly throwing strikes here but Glennon is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Glennon can't escape the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kelly really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Glennon is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Kelly knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Glennon on the ground. Kelly wants to control the pace but Glennon is squirming around nicely. Glennon regains half guard. Kelly thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Glennon actively working from the bottom here. Kelly looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Glennon wants to improve his position but Kelly is controlling well.
Glennon makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Glennon. Glennon manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kelly manages to get himself to full guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Kelly will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Glennon pushing down on Kelly's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Glennon passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Kelly! Kelly is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kelly is looking to improve his position but Glennon isn't that keen on the idea. Kelly defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Glennon. Glennon is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Kelly has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Kelly! Glennon is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Glennon passes to side control. Glennon has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Kelly!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kelly wants to control but Glennon is having none of it. Glennon looking to isolate an arm here. Kelly doesn't see it coming and as Glennon extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Glennon!
