Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 13 - 0, fighting out of London, Billy Riley! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 1, fighting out of London, Neil Sankar! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, James Glass and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Excellent takedown into side control there by Sankar. Sankar throwing strikes but missing, from side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sankar throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Sankar scores with punches from side control. Sankar misses with the ground and pound. Sankar slows the pace down. Sankar is putting a hurting on Riley here, landing some big shots from side control. Sankar looks up at the clock and then as Riley takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Sankar smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Riley can't do much from the bottom here. Riley takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Sankar cracks Riley with a big elbow. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Sankar is looking to take a break and control but Riley is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sankar throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Sankar creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Riley sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Sloppy strikes there by Sankar. Sankar is looking to take a break and control but Riley is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Riley wants to control but Sankar postures up. Sankar misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Riley might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Riley regains half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sankar lands strikes from half guard. Sankar throws a strike but Riley avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Sankar wants to pass the guard but Riley is keeping the position. Sankar throwing strikes but missing. Sankar throws a strike but Riley rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Riley drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Sankar dives on top into guard. Riley is breathing heavily. Sankar trying to control the position from guard on top but Riley is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sankar forces his way into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sankar missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Sankar is taking a breather. Riley says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Riley trying to control from the bottom.
Sankar sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Riley defending well though. Sankar trying to control from half guard but Riley is working away. Sankar seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Sankar is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Riley won't allow Sankar to pass to mount. Sankar is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Sankar working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Riley's thigh. Riley counters though and makes it back to full guard. Sankar drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Riley manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Sankar has Riley in his guard. Sankar is pulling down on Riley's head to control his posture. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Riley missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Neil Sankar dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Riley closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Riley lands in his opponent's guard. Sankar pulls Riley in close to prevent any damage. Riley stands and steps away. Sankar gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. No luck with that takedown attempt from Riley. Riley tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Sankar is trying hard to land a takedown here. Riley sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Sankar closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Riley moves into full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sankar looking to sit in guard and control but Riley gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Sankar seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Riley looking to pass the guard. Riley passes Sankar's left leg - he's now in half guard. Riley is keen to just control but Sankar is a slippery customer.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Riley sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Sankar defending well though. Sankar trying to control here.
Sankar wants to improve his position but Riley is controlling well.
Sankar makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Sankar. Sankar utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Riley postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Sankar keeping full guard, as Riley tries to pass. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sankar can do anything to dispel that myth. Sankar looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Sankar really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Riley. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sankar is pulling down on Riley's head to control his posture. Riley postures up.
Riley won't allow Sankar to sweep him here. Riley trying to control but Sankar is working from the bottom.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Riley shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sankar pinned against the cage. Sankar gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sankar shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Riley looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Billy Riley. That's going to take a lot out of him. Riley shoots for a double leg takedown but Sankar sprawls well. He's pushed Riley's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Sankar misses with a takedown and Riley counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Riley postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Sankar looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Billy Riley dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Nice takedown defense from Sankar. No joy for Riley on that attempt. Riley with a poor takedown and Sankar counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Sankar. Sankar passes Riley's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Riley trying to control but Sankar postures up.

Riley has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Sankar is working away from the top position though. Riley is looking for a sweep. Sankar is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Sankar is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's one minute gone in the round. Sankar throws a strike but Riley avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Sankar controlling from the top position. Sankar wants to control from the top but Riley keeps moving. Sankar postures up in Riley's guard and throws a big left but Riley blocks it. Sankar trying to control the position from guard on top but Riley is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Riley keeping full guard, as Sankar tries to pass.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sankar trying to control but Riley is working from the bottom. Neil Sankar has got the better of the ground game so far.
Neil Sankar has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Sankar tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Riley swivels and escapes. Riley stuffs the takedown attempt from Sankar. Sankar gets slowly back to his feet. Sankar slaps away a takedown attempt from Riley, before circling back to the center of the mat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Billy Riley. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sankar stuffs the takedown. Riley throws a series of strikes that have Sankar backpedaling.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sankar shoots in but Riley avoids the takedown attempt easily. Sankar shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Riley as he avoids it easily. Riley shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Sankar defends it nicely. Sankar gets the takedown into side control. Sankar is chipping away with strikes.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Sankar working the ground and pound but Riley is defending the strikes. Sankar lands a few punches from side control. Sankar trying to control the position but Riley is working away. Sankar scoring with punches from side control. Sankar lands a decent elbow from side control. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Sankar working the ground and pound. Riley regains half guard there - taking advantage of Sankar's attempt to lay and pray for a moment. Billy Riley has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Sankar wants to work for an arm triangle but Riley is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
And that's the end of the fight! Neil Sankar comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Sankar has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
