The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Vladimir Khabensky and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kleva throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kleva doesn't succeed with the takedown
so Kovalev counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Kovalev won't allow Kleva to get back to his feet.
Kovalev trying to control the position from guard on top but Kleva is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Rocky Kovalev wasn't active enough on the ground.
Kovalev tries for a takedown but Kleva circles away easily
and Kleva counters by moving into the clinch.

Kovalev is trying to force a seperation but Kleva has the dominant position.
Kleva pushes off an throws an elbow but Kovalev leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
