PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Randy Pin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pin comes to the cage accompanied by It's A Fight - Three 6 Mafia. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Randy Pin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Phil Davis!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Alan Glass and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pin tries to avoid it but Davis manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pin to the ground. Pin escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Davis throws a combination. Pin tries to block but a couple of punches get through.


It looks like Randy Pin has been cut.
Davis looks to land a combination but Pin avoids it well.
Danga de danga de dang - Davis scores with a four punch combination!
Davis wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Davis digs a good body shot into Pin's ribs.
Pin tried to score with a low kick but Davis checks it.

Davis closes the distance and pushes Pin back into the cage.
Pin tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Davis has clasped his hands together around Pin's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Pin is trying to get back to half guard.
Davis misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

Pin takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Davis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pin keeps working.
Davis in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Pin avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Davis.
Davis postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Pin avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Davis.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Davis is chipping away with strikes.

Pin is not content to let Davis control the position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Pin avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Davis.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Davis tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Phil Davis dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Randy Pin's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Davis lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
A looping hook to the body misses from Pin. Davis does a little dance to reset his feet.
Pin throws a sloppy head kick and Davis moves out of range easily.
Davis misses with a wild body shot.
Pin takes one on the button.
A jab from Davis finds it's way through Pin's defenses.
Pin throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
A looping hook to the body misses from Davis. Pin does a little dance to reset his feet.
Davis throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Pin.

Davis is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Pin's half guard.
Pin is trying to get back to full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Davis stalling away here and it's allowed Pin to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Davis throwing strikes from guard but Pin blocks nicely.
Davis wants to control from the top but Pin keeps moving.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Davis thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Pin wants to stand up but Davis is controlling him.
Pin preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Davis is looking to work some ground and pound but Pin has wrist control.
Davis trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Davis accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Pin wants to control the position but Davis says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Davis thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Pin's head.
Davis is keen to just control but Pin is a slippery customer.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pin looks like he's trying to stand up.
Phil Davis has got the better of the ground game so far.
Davis content to control rather than advance.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Davis closes the distance and clinches up with Pin, looking for a takedown. Davis pushes Pin against the cage but Pin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Pin thuds his right hand into Davis's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Davis lands a nice looking body kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Phil Davis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Pin lands with a right hand.
Pin waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Davis.
Davis works over Pin's head and body with a nice combination.
Phil Davis seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Pin checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

Davis has taken the fight to the clinch.
Davis has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Pin is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
A head punch on the inside from Pin fails to land.
Davis is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Davis prevents a body shot from Pin.
Pin stops a takedown attempt from Davis.

Davis pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Pin throws a hook but Davis blocks it.
Good exchange - Davis coming out on top.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Davis thows a body shot but no joy.
Davis throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Pin on the side of the head.
Pin scores with a push kick.
No luck for Davis with that takedown attempt.
Randy Pin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Phil Davis.

Pin throws a body kick that misses.
Davis fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Pin throws a hook but Davis blocks it.
Pin swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Pin misses with the combination.
Good standup being displayed there by Davis as he connects with a hook.
Davis tries to work over Pin's front leg with a kick but Pin checks it.
Pin looks for the body kick but Davis saw that one coming.
Davis throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Davis misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Davis misses with the combination.

Davis looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Pin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Pin is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Phil Davis is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Randy Pin wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Davis lands a body shot.
Pin moves out of range of the leg kick from Davis.
Davis moves out of range of the body kick from Pin.
A slapping leg kick lands for Davis.
Pin misses with a hook.
Davis connects with a body shot.

Davis lands a nice looking body shot.
Davis pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Davis misses with a head kick.
Davis misses with a body kick.

Davis shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Davis showed some decent athleticism there.
Davis is figuring out what he wants to do next.

And that's the end of the fight!
Phil Davis comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Davis has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
