PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Atlas Kivi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Tamudo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Atlas Kivi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Antonio Tamudo!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Marco Blurström and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kivi scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Kivi is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Tamudo defends it well.

Kivi stops Tamudo from getting back to his feet.
Kivi has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kivi wants to take a breather but Tamudo is having none of it.
Kivi content to control rather than advance.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Tamudo wants to improve his position but Kivi is controlling well.

Tamudo is just holding on here. Kivi manages to take his back.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Kivi thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kivi is riding his opponent, not letting Tamudo buck him off.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Kivi throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Tamudo tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Kivi is in Tamudo's guard.
Kivi is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Tamudo is staying active underneath Kivi, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kivi is nestled in close to Tamudo, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Kivi here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Kivi is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Tamudo is defending against the submission attempts here by Kivi.
Tamudo is controlling Kivi's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Kivi is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Kivi content to control rather than advance.
Kivi seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Tamudo does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kivi wants to control but Tamudo is keeping him busy.

Tamudo makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Kivi shoots in but no luck this time.
Kivi will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Atlas Kivi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Tamudo throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kivi sees it coming and avoids it easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Kivi gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Tamudo lands a shot to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Atlas Kivi dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Tamudo scores to the head and body with a nice combination!


It looks like Atlas Kivi has been cut.
Tamudo waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Kivi.
Tamudo thows a body shot but no joy.
Kivi checks the leg kick.
Kivi wants to clinch up but Tamudo keeps it at a distance.
Kivi shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Tamudo as he avoids it easily.
Kivi uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Tamudo.
Tamudo avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Some bone on bone action there as Kivi checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Tamudo swings for the body but Kivi moves out of range.
Kivi doesn't manage to clinch there - Tamudo circles away.
Kivi uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Tamudo.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Kivi controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Atlas Kivi.

and Tamudo counters with a straight right hand.

Kivi moves in looking to clinch but Tamudo pushes him off.
Antonio Tamudo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kivi shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Tamudo as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Atlas Kivi. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kivi throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Tamudo was covering up waiting for the punch and Kivi finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Kivi tries to free his leg and advance position but Tamudo is retaining full guard.
Kivi seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Kivi wants to control from the top but Tamudo keeps moving.

Atlas Kivi is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Kivi controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Antonio Tamudo.
I think Kivi has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
