PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Movado Kenshi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Robertson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Movado Kenshi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Robert Robertson!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Damien Edna and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Robertson leaves Kenshi with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Kenshi closes the distance and clinches up with Robertson, looking for a takedown. Kenshi pushes Robertson against the cage but Robertson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Kenshi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Robertson tries to avoid it but Kenshi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Robertson to the ground. Robertson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Movado Kenshi. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Robertson clinches.
Robertson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Kenshi smiles and moves away.

Robertson tries to sprawl but Kenshi drives through with a takedown into half guard.

We're going to have a standup here because Movado Kenshi wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Robertson clinches.
Kenshi tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Robertson just stands there and leans against the cage.

Kenshi tries to score a body lock takedown but Robertson shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Robertson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kenshi shoots in but Robertson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Kenshi shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Robertson pinned against the cage. Robertson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Robertson rushes Kenshi and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Kenshi loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Kenshi trying to control the position from guard on top but Robertson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Kenshi gets to his feet. Robertson looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Kenshi shoots in for a double leg but Robertson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Robertson moves in looking to clinch but Kenshi pushes him off.

Kenshi clinches up with Robertson and pushes him back against the cage.
Robertson unloads a knee to the mid-section. Kenshi lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Robertson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Kenshi ducks right into an uppercut from Robertson.
Nice shot lands for Robertson.

Robertson moves into the clinch successfully.
Robertson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Kenshi smiles and moves away.

Kenshi on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Robertson. Robertson obviously looking to wear him down.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Robertson.
Nice uppercut lands for Robertson. That snapped Kenshi's head back.
Robertson throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Robertson smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Robertson tries to clinch up but Kenshi circles away and keeps his distance.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Robertson manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Kenshi wants to control from the top but Robertson keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Robertson lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Kenshi closes this distance looking for a takedown but Robertson circles away.

Kenshi drops down looking for an ankle pick but Robertson pulls his leg out and moves away.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Kenshi drives through with a takedown into guard.
Kenshi has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Robertson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Robertson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kenshi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Robertson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kenshi controls the pace.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Robertson wants to stand but Kenshi is controlling the position.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kenshi is defended easily by Robertson.
Robertson turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Robert Robertson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Kenshi has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Robertson regains guard immediately.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kenshi is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Kenshi uses his free foot to push down on Robertson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Robertson.
Robertson really wants to buck Kenshi off and get back to his feet.

Kenshi is working for a guillotine from mount but Robertson frees his head quite easily.
You get the feeling that Robertson really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Kenshi is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Robertson can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Kenshi wants to control the pace but Robertson is squirming around nicely.

Kenshi is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Robertson to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Robertson shrugs it off.

Kenshi has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Robertson's face.

Movado Kenshi showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Robertson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
