PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Bunk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Dup (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dup is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Burning Heart by Survivor. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Bruce Bunk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Max Dup!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Sam Margolis and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dup has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Bunk finds it's way round the side to connect with Dup's head.
Bunk scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Bunk connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Dup ducks right into an uppercut from Bunk.
Dup showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Bunk.
Dup walks into a left hand.
Bunk misses with a straight right.
Dup fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Bunk avoids it really well and circles away.
Dup lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Dup uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Bunk.
Dup fails to land the takedown.

Dup gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Bunk to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Bunk drops back, looking for a kneebar! Dup looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Dup looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Dup!
Bunk wants to get back to his feet.

Dup throws a strike aimed at the side of Bunk's head but Bunk avoids it well.
Bunk takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Bunk parries the strikes from Dup easily there. Dup is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Bunk to escape.
Dup moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Dup working the ground and pound but Bunk is defending the strikes.

Dup throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Dup is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Bunk knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Dup is looking to take a break and control but Bunk is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Dup cracks Bunk with a big right hand but Bunk just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Dup fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Dup throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Bunk dodges the ground and pound from Dup.
Dup tries to score with some ground and pound. Bunk controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Bunk sneaks out the side door and pushes Dup away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Max Dup dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Dup throws a right and a left that Bunk avoids nicely.
Dup's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Bunk connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Dup scrambles back to his feet.
Dup avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Dup tries to land a leg kick but Bunk saw it coming and moves away.
Dup misses with a wild body shot.
A combination from Dup does no damage.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Bunk is defended easily by Dup.

Bunk lands with an uppercut that bounces Dup off the cage and back into rage.
Dup looks to score with a jab to the body but Bunk is just out of range.
Bunk throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Good shot there by Bunk.
Bunk bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Dup swings for the body but Bunk moves out of range.
Bruce Bunk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Dup fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Dup's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Bunk connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Dup scrambles back to his feet.
Dup shoots in for a double leg but Bunk sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Horrible takedown by Dup or perhaps it was just good defense by Bunk which made him look bad.
Bruce Bunk has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Max Dup.
Dup is breathing heavily.

and Bunk counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Some wild striking there from Dup.

Bunk has managed to clinch.
Bunk tries for a takedown. No joy.
Dup is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Bunk lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Bunk wants a takedown.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Bunk creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Dup wants to break the clinch but can't.
A right hook to the body lands for Bunk.
Dup has Bunk pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Bunk manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Bunk is pushing Dup up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Bunk works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Bunk misses with a takedown attempt - Dup sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

and Bunk counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Dup swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Bunk scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Dup doesn't seem bothered though.

Bunk tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Dup paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Bunk plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Dup throws a lazy right hand but Bunk sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Bunk works the jab nicely.
Bunk avoids the body shot from Dup.
Bunk lands with a cross.

Dup fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Bunk to the ground. Dup is now in Bunk's guard.
Dup takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Dup with a flurry of punches that miss.
Dup trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Dup throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bunk works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Dup prevents Bunk from getting back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Bunk has momentary wrist control but Dup slips an elbow through the middle.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Max Dup comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Dup has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
