Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Freddy Alves! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jean Charles Skarbowsky! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Leandro Rodrigues and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Skarbowsky connects with a looping right hand.
Alves swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Skarbowsky counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Alves is lucky that one didn't land flush. Alves throws a right hand that misses
and Skarbowsky counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Alves is lucky that one didn't land flush. Alves closes the distance but Skarbowsky moves to the side and Skarbowsky counters with a nice low kick that buckles Alves's knee momentarily. Skarbowsky feints and then cracks Alves's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Alves down. Alves throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Skarbowsky counters with a three punch combo that has Alves backing up. Alves nods at Skarbowsky to acknowledge the strikes. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Alves shoots for a takedown but Skarbowsky saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Skarbowsky lands a head shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alves shoots in for a takedown but Skarbowsky shows good takedown defense. Alves tries to clinch but Skarbowsky is having none of it. Skarbowsky scores with a hook to the body. Alves takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Alves is breathing heavily. Skarbowsky lands a left and a right that send Alves crashing to the mat, dazed. Skarbowsky thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Alves is rocked! Alves misses with a jab to the body
and Skarbowsky counters with a nice leg kick. Skarbowsky looks to land a combination but Alves avoids it well. Alves doesn't manage to clinch there - Skarbowsky circles away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Alves steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Skarbowsky. That one must have hurt. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Skarbowsky lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Alves circles away quickly and effectively. Skarbowsky throws a series of punches but Alves moves out of range. Alves swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Skarbowsky makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. A jab lands there for Skarbowsky. Alves misses with a combination
and Skarbowsky counters with a good low kick that Alves was not able to check. A combination from Skarbowsky does no damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alves misses with a double jab
and Skarbowsky counters with a nice kick to the body. Skarbowsky throws a head kick but Alves moves out of range.
Freddy Alves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Alves falls off balance throwing a combination
and Skarbowsky counters with a nice leg kick. Donk. Skarbowsky catches Alves right on the button with a cross. Alves throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
letting Skarbowsky counter with a right hand.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Alves falls off balance throwing a combination
and Skarbowsky counters with a straight right hand. This has been an exciting period of action! Skarbowsky circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Alves drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Skarbowsky follows Alves to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!
