The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, William Peck and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vakarian's jab looks to have found its range, popping Santos under the eye.
It looks like Marcelo Santos has been cut.
Vakarian lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Santos shoots in but Vakarian avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Santos shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Vakarian moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Santos shoots in looking for a takedown. Vakarian tries to sprawl out of it but Santos keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Vakarian manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Thane Vakarian has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcelo Santos.
Santos shoots in but no luck this time.
Vakarian lands with an uppercut that bounces Santos off the cage and back into rage.
Santos will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
A head kick from Vakarian lands but Santos takes it in his stride.
Santos takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Santos looks gassed!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Vakarian lands a big head kick that sends Santos tumbling to the mat! Vakarian takes a step backwards and waves Santos back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Santos is rocked!
That has opened up Marcelo Santos's cut even more.
Vakarian walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Santos drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Vakarian swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Santos's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:13 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Thane Vakarian!
