Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Genki Sudo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ryu Sato! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Matheus Silva and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sudo circles away from the clinch attempt.
Sudo is looking to clinch. Sudo drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Sudo decides to stand back up. Sudo steps back and let's Sato get back to his feet. Sudo will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Sudo drives through and clinches with Sato against the cage.

Sudo trying to control the position from guard on top but Sato is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sudo controls from within his opponent's guard. Sudo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sato on the ground. Sato manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Sudo manages to get himself to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Sudo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sato gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Sudo throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Sato escapes and throws Sudo's legs to the side, diving into side control! Sudo is breathing heavily. Sudo prevents Sato from moving into mount. Sudo dodges the ground and pound from Sato. Sudo wants to control but Sato postures up. Sato throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Sudo closes the distance and clinches. Sato is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Sato has Sudo pressed against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Sato tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Sudo smiles and moves away.
Sato has his takedown stuffed and Sudo counters with a two punch combo. Genki Sudo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryu Sato. Sudo shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Sudo showed some decent athleticism there. Sudo is looking to take a break and control but Sato is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Sato is looking for a sweep. Sudo is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Sato slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Sudo wants to control from the top but Sato keeps moving. Sudo has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Sato works his way to full guard. Good work. Sato is working an open guard so Sudo takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Sudo fails to land the takedown. Sato misses with a jab to the body
and Sudo counters with a shoot takedown. Sato fights it but they end up in guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! Sudo seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Sato controls Sudo momentarily but Sudo frees himself. Sudo advances to half guard.

Sudo wants to take a breather but Sato is having none of it. Sato looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Sudo prevents Sato from improving his position. Sudo trying to control the action but Sato is working from the bottom. Sato moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Sudo gets to his feet - Sato follows without any prompting. Sudo closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Sudo has picked Sato up - he's going for a ride! Sudo dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Sudo throwing shots but Sato is blocking nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sudo works his way into full mount! Sudo prevents Sato from getting the reversal. Sato defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Sudo. Sato wants to hold on but Sudo pushes him away. Sudo controlling the position easily from mount. Sudo postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Sato looks a forlorn figure.

Genki Sudo dominated that second round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Sudo gets in close and instigates a clinch. Sudo is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Sato can't fight it off and eventually Sudo manages to take the fight to the floor. Sato looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Sudo wants to pass the guard but Sato is keeping the position. Sato tries to land a sweep but no joy. Sudo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sudo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Sudo stands and throws Sato's legs to the side, diving into side control. Sato manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Both fighters are breathing heavily. Sudo looks like he's trying to stand up.

Sudo lands with a nice body kick. Sudo scores with a takedown into Sato's guard. Sato can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Sudo controls the pace.
