Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Janne Puikko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dane Carter!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Anni Minnemäki and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Puikko looks to land a right hand but Carter moved out of range.
A swing and a miss from Carter.
Puikko connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Carter momentarily.
It looks like Dane Carter has been cut.
Carter slips a jab from Puikko.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Carter throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Puikko cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Carter swings widly with a right hand
and Puikko counters with a stiff right hand.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Carter gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Puikko counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Carter tried to score with a low kick but Puikko checks it.
Puikko lands with a shot to the body.
Carter slips a straight right by Puikko.
Carter misses with a right hand
and Puikko counters with a lovely straight right hand!
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Carter throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Puikko swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Carter uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Puikko.
Carter misses with a leg kick
and Puikko counters with a straight right hand.
Carter misses with a body kick.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Puikko throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
The fighters circling - Puikko throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Carter looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Puikko is fending him off so far but Carter persists. Nope, Puikko circles away and we're back to standing.
A jab from Puikko does it's job there.
Puikko misses with a hook. Carter ducked under it nicely.
Puikko is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Puikko bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Carter's head backwards.
Puikko misses with a looping right.
Carter slips under a jab.
Puikko with a hook.
Carter throws a leg kick
and Puikko counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Janne Puikko dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Dane Carter's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Puikko takes a swing at Carter's ribcage but misses.
Carter throws a leg kick that is checked
and Puikko counters with a crisp right that sends Carter to the canvas! Puikko follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!
