Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hiroshi Sato!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steve Headden!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Chris Downing and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sato showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Headden.

Sato feints and then cracks Headden's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Headden down.
Headden throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sato's waist but Sato gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Headden off to one side.
Sato uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Headden.
Headden shoots in but Sato avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Sato throws a leg kick
and Headden connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Headden will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Headden throws a hook to the side of Sato's head but Sato sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Sato jabs Headden to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Sato misses with the combination.
Sato fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Headden is defended easily by Sato.
Hiroshi Sato has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steve Headden.

Headden cracks Sato with a right hand to the side of the head.
Sato throws a looping overhand right but Headden ducks down to avoid it.
Headden tries to clinch up but Sato circles away and keeps his distance.

Headden changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sato tries to avoid it but Headden manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sato to the ground. Sato escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Hiroshi Sato seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Sato gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Headden creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Headden is trying to drag Sato to the mat but Sato just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Headden seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Sato does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Sato.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Headden lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Steve Headden showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

OK we're going to have a standup here. Steve Headden hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Well Headden has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
