Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Doug Campbell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sasha Traktor! The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Igor Prikhodko and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Campbell with a poor takedown and Traktor counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Campbell! Traktor tries to control but Campbell wriggling away. Campbell tries to hold on but Traktor pushes him away. Traktor tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment. Campbell tries to hold on but Traktor pushes him away. Campbell bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
That's one minute gone in the round. Traktor wriggles free and stands up. Traktor shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Campbell counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Traktor! Campbell looking to control and managing it successfully. Traktor is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Campbell looking to control and managing it successfully. Campbell lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Traktor looks gassed!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Campbell controlling from mount. Campbell will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Campbell in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Doug Campbell dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Traktor misses with a takedown attempt and Campbell counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Traktor's guard now. Traktor wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Campbell manages to pass to side control. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Campbell in particular looking to stall. Campbell's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Campbell lands a nice short elbow. Traktor pushes Campbell off but Campbell dives into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Campbell staying calm. Traktor is breathing heavily. Traktor tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops. Campbell scores with punches and elbows.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Campbell trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Traktor doesn't escape. Traktor is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. Campbell has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Traktor's body.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Campbell lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Traktor hold on?!
Campbell is punishing Traktor with strikes - can he finish him?! Traktor is covering up but some of the strikes from Campbell are getting through and doing damage.
Campbell trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Traktor doesn't escape. Campbell lands a punch to the side of the head from the back. Campbell slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Campbell is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Traktor up.
Campbell controls the position. Campbell seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Traktor for as long as he can get away with. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Doug Campbell dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Campbell fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Traktor sprawls well initially but Campbell persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Traktor wants to get back to his feet. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Campbell is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Traktor taking shots to the head. Campbell content just to control the position here. Traktor takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Traktor is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Campbell takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Campbell has control of Traktor's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Traktor regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Campbell takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Doug Campbell wasn't doing enough on the ground. Traktor has his takedown stuffed and Campbell counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Traktor! Sasha Traktor has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Campbell postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Traktor looks a forlorn figure.
And that's the end of the fight! Doug Campbell showed his dominance in that final round. Well Campbell has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
