Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Atama Deteike! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Edgar Humperdink! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Yuuki Gou.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Deteike shoots in looking for a takedown. Humperdink tries to sprawl out of it but Deteike keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Humperdink manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Humperdink tries for a takedown but Deteike circles away easily and Deteike moves into the clinch. Deteike tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Deteike tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Humperdink smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Atama Deteike. That's going to take a lot out of him. Deteike shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Humperdink as he avoids it easily. Humperdink misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Deteike fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Deteike shoots and misses and Humperdink counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Deteike knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Humperdink on the ground. Humperdink pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Deteike is keeping the position for now. Deteike controls Humperdink momentarily but Humperdink frees himself. Humperdink preventing the sweep. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Deteike is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Humperdink won't allow Deteike to sweep him here. Deteike is breathing heavily. Humperdink scoring with punches to the head and body. Humperdink won't allow Deteike to sweep him here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Deteike throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Deteike. Humperdink misses with a takedown attempt - Deteike sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Humperdink gets the takedown into side control. Humperdink looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Humperdink working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Humperdink is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Deteike is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Deteike is positioning himself to get back to half guard. That's two minutes gone in the round. Humperdink tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Humperdink decides to stand up, so the ref orders Deteike to his feet. Humperdink gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Deteike decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Humperdink's guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Humperdink throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Deteike tries to free his leg and advance position but Humperdink is retaining full guard. Deteike is working hard here to advance position. Deteike seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Deteike is working Humperdink over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Deteike distracts Humperdink with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Deteike trying to control but Humperdink is working from the bottom.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Deteike doesn't succeed with the takedown and Humperdink counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Humperdink. Humperdink postures up.
Deteike working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Humperdink doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Humperdink manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Humperdink advances position into side control! Humperdink has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Deteike is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Humperdink yanks on the arm and Deteike is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Humperdink.
