Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Pepe LePew (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dante Santiago (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dante Santiago has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pepe LePew!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dante Santiago!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, John Kavanagh and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santiago defends well against a solid takedown attempt from LePew.
Santiago throws a hook but LePew avoids it easily.
Santiago fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches LePew on the side of the head.
LePew misses with a takedown
and Santiago cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
LePew ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from LePew is defended easily by Santiago.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pepe LePew. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Santiago misses with a wild body shot.

LePew moves away from the strike by Santiago.
Nice uppercut lands for Santiago. That snapped LePew's head back.
Santiago swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Santiago, as that shot connected.
LePew has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Santiago finds it's way round the side to connect with LePew's head.

Pepe LePew seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

LePew closes the distance and clinches up with Santiago, looking for a takedown. LePew pushes Santiago against the cage but Santiago circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
LePew throws a solid leg kick but Santiago takes the impact on his shin and smiles at LePew.

LePew fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
LePew takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
LePew misses with a takedown attempt - Santiago sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

LePew shoots in but Santiago avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Santiago lands with an overhand left.
A looping hook to the body misses from Santiago. LePew does a little dance to reset his feet.

Dante Santiago showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Santiago lands a nice looking body shot.

LePew feints and as Santiago raises his hands in defense, LePew changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Santiago wants to stand up but LePew is controlling him.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as LePew accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
LePew trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Santiago wants to sweep here but LePew controlling him for the moment.
Santiago really doesn't want to stay on the ground with LePew. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
LePew stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Santiago swivels though and keeps the full guard.
LePew is working hard here to advance position.

Santiago is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
LePew missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

LePew bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Santiago fakes high and swings low for a body shot but LePew manages to avoid it.

LePew misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

LePew fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Santiago to the ground. LePew is now in Santiago's guard.

LePew is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
LePew sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Santiago's guard.
LePew moves nicely into side control.
LePew is trying to ground and pound but Santiago uses the momentary lack of control by LePew to regain half guard.
LePew tries to pass to full mount but Santiago defends it.

LePew wants to work for an arm triangle but Santiago is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Santiago is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

LePew is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Santiago doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time LePew.
LePew is trying to control the action in half guard but Santiago is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Santiago stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Santiago wants it to stay on the feet.
LePew walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
LePew avoids the body shot from Santiago.
Dante Santiago seems to be getting the better of the standup.
No luck with that takedown attempt from LePew.
LePew tries to clinch up but Santiago circles away and keeps his distance.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

LePew throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Santiago's waist but Santiago gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing LePew off to one side.

Santiago connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Santiago lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Santiago.


LePew is rocked!
LePew is looking to land body kicks.
LePew tries to score a power double leg takedown but Santiago sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten LePew somewhat.

Santiago drops LePew with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but LePew looks back up at him and smiles so Santiago waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Oh LePew is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
LePew is sent reeling backwards by a solid uppercut. He barely regains his balance and Santiago moves in for the kill throwing a continuous barrage of punches that force the ref to step in.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:33 of round 5, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dante Santiago! Dante Santiago retains his lightweight title!
