Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Luiz Cabral (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Pineda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Luiz Cabral!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Pineda!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Seu Braga and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pineda bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Pineda tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Pineda has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Cabral is looking to reverse the position.
Cabral is working hard here to advance position.

Pineda is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Cabral knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Pineda working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pineda is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Cabral is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Cabral is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Pineda's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Pineda is working for a kimura but Cabral is defending it quite comfortably.

Pineda is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cabral is just riding it out for now. Pineda eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Pineda seems to be working for a kimura but Cabral defends the submission attempt.

Pineda postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Cabral is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Pineda, into his guard.

Cabral is looking to take a break and control but Pineda is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Cabral passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Pineda!
Pineda is squirming around, avoiding Cabral's attempts to control the action.

Cabral is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Pineda can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Cabral looking to break Pineda's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Pineda remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Cabral will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

I really don't envy Pineda right now.
Oooh a big shot gets through from Cabral. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Cabral's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

That was a close round but I would say that Luiz Cabral will probably get the nod.

Pineda is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Cabral still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Cabral has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Cabral fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Pineda sprawls well initially but Cabral persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Cabral drops back looking for a leg! Pineda is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Pineda manages to kick Cabral off! Cabral jumps back into Pineda's guard.

Cabral get's back to his feet.
Cabral throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Cabral feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Pineda is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Cabral defends well.

Pineda working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cabral doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cabral manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Cabral sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Pineda's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pineda is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Cabral seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Pineda does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Cabral manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Pineda on his heels. He'll look to pass Pineda's guard now, I'm sure.
