Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Paul Martin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Sammy Sugarol!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Marco Blurström and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sugarol throws a hook but Martin blocks it.

Martin gets a double leg takedown into Sugarol's guard.
Martin working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Martin postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Sugarol is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Martin, into his guard.
Martin is trying to control the position but Sugarol postures up.
Martin controlling the position.
Sugarol trying to control the position from guard on top but Martin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Martin trying to keep a closed guard but Sugarol is proving a slippery customer.

Martin keeping moving, preventing Sugarol from controlling successfully.

Paul Martin has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Sugarol missing with a left hand there. Martin was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Martin shoots in for a takedown but Sugarol shows good takedown defense.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Martin is defended easily by Sugarol.
Sugarol misses with a right hand

and Martin counters with a single leg into guard. Sugarol didn't expect that.
Martin trying to control but Sugarol is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sugarol is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Martin's corner is telling him to maintain position.

We're going to have a standup here because Paul Martin wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Martin shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Martin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sugarol misses with an uppercut. Martin saw that one coming.

Sugarol slips a jab from Martin.
Sammy Sugarol is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Martin fails with a takedown attempt.
A looping hook to the body misses from Sugarol. Martin does a little dance to reset his feet.
Martin lands with a nice combination. Sugarol backs away looking to recover.
Sugarol scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Martin staying out of range there.
Horrible takedown by Martin or perhaps it was just good defense by Sugarol which made him look bad.
Sugarol is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Martin.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Martin misses with a hook.
Martin stuns Sugarol with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Martin throws a lazy right hand but Sugarol sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Sugarol stuffs the takedown.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A swing and a miss from Sugarol.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Martin uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Sugarol.
Martin moves out of range as Sugarol strikes.

Martin throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Sugarol was covering up waiting for the punch and Martin finishes the takedown easily into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paul Martin dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Sugarol is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Martin.
Martin lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Martin blocks a jab.
Martin throws a right and a left that Sugarol avoids nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Martin misses with a takedown attempt - Sugarol sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Nice takedown defense from Sugarol. No joy for Martin on that attempt.

Martin shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Sugarol looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sugarol is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Martin thows a big elbow that misses.
Martin is stalling in the full guard.
Martin wants to control from the top but Sugarol keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Paul Martin wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Sugarol moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.


Martin is rocked!


It looks like Paul Martin has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sugarol misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Sugarol tries to bum rush Martin with a series of wild strikes but Martin uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Sugarol circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Martin to the canvas! Martin doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Sugarol keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sammy Sugarol!
