Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Daniel Roth!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bennet Amparo!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Bruno Hogan and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Amparo gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Roth cracks Amparo with a solid left hand.
Roth is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Roth avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Roth is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Roth stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Amparo swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Amparo is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Roth throws a big right hand that misses.
Roth has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Amparo keeping moving, preventing Roth from controlling successfully.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Roth closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Amparo to the mat! Amparo manages to get full guard.
Roth connects with a couple of short punches.
Amparo looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Roth puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Amparo is looking to control Roth's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Amparo avoid being mounted?
Roth lands with a punch from half guard.

Amparo looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Amparo is pressing down on Roth's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Roth won't allow Amparo to sweep him here.
Amparo is trying to keep Roth in close.
Roth working some strikes from top position.

Amparo wants to sweep here but Roth controlling him for the moment.
Roth postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Roth is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Amparo not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Roth's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Roth closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Roth lands in his opponent's guard.
Roth thows a big elbow that misses.
Roth is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Roth wants to control from the top but Amparo keeps moving.

Roth thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Roth wants to pass the guard but Amparo is keeping the position.
Roth passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Amparo is looking for a sweep.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Roth staying calm.
Roth scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Amparo to see if he's OK.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Amparo manages to work his way to half guard, despite Roth's best efforts.
Roth not doing much here.
Amparo is looking for a sweep. Roth is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Roth drops an elbow to the side of Amparo's head.
Amparo on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Amparo is looking to improve his position.
Amparo is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Amparo trying to hold on to Roth's head to control him but Roth postures up.
Roth seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Amparo looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Roth shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Amparo gets full guard.
Amparo manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Roth manages to get himself to full guard.
Roth wants to sweep here but Amparo controlling him for the moment.
Roth is working hard here to advance position.

Roth is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Amparo is aware though and is defending well.

Amparo drops back looking for a leg! Roth is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Roth manages to kick Amparo off! Amparo jumps back into Roth's guard.

Roth is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Roth is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Daniel Roth overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Roth wants to sweep here but Amparo controlling him for the moment.

Amparo is posturing up here but Roth has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Amparo tries to roll out but it's too tight and Amparo has to tap! Slick submission there by Roth!
