Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jake Shields!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rich Granderson!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Hugh Johnson and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Granderson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Granderson misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Granderson working the strikes but Shields uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
Shields is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Granderson scores with a couple of nice shots.
Shields wants to control but Granderson is keeping busy.
Shields is not content to let Granderson control the position.
Granderson thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Shields to regain full guard.
Granderson engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Granderson postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Shields is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Granderson, into his guard.

Granderson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shields swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Shields is pulling down on Granderson's head. It's preventing any offense from Granderson, at least for the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Granderson is in close to Shields's body, working some short punches and elbows.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Shields is looking for a triangle but Granderson pushes his legs off easily.
Shields keeping moving, preventing Granderson from controlling successfully.
Granderson throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Granderson postures up and lands a big shot to Shields's brow.

Granderson is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Shields has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Granderson is looking to defend but Shields has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Granderson! Shields pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Granderson taps out and this one is all over!
