Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kenji Paul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julian Acosta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kenji Paul! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Julian Acosta! The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Jonathan Paton and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Acosta misses with an uppercut
and Paul counters by clinching up. Acosta misses with a short punch on the inside. Acosta misses with a body punch.
Acosta pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Paul circles away from the clinch attempt and Paul counters with a three punch combo that has Acosta backing up. Acosta nods at Paul to acknowledge the strikes. Acosta is trying hard to land a takedown here. Paul sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Acosta closes the distance and clinches up with Paul, looking for a takedown. Acosta pushes Paul against the cage but Paul circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Acosta throws a series of punches but Paul avoids them all with ease. Paul cracks a nice hook into Acosta's ribs. Acosta rushes Paul and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Acosta breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Acosta dodges the punch combination from Paul.
Paul lands with a hook. Acosta tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Acosta should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
That's one minute gone in the round. A punch lands to the side of Paul 's head but he takes it in his stride. No luck with that takedown attempt from Acosta. Kenji Paul has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Julian Acosta. Paul is breathing heavily. Paul cracks a nice hook into Acosta's ribs. Paul misses with a double jab.
Acosta changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Paul tries to avoid it but Acosta manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Paul to the ground. Paul escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. The fight stays on the outside here - Paul looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Paul is looking to clinch but Acosta is avoiding it.

Acosta will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Paul up against the cage. Paul tries to break free but Acosta pushes him back against the cage. Acosta manages to break the clinch.
Acosta looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Acosta misses with a lunging right hand
and Paul counters with a right hand to the body. Paul scores with a sloppy right hand. Acosta should have avoided that one.

Acosta moves in looking to clinch but Paul pushes him off. Paul keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Acosta. Acosta tries to keep at a distance but Paul has taken the fight into the clinch. Acosta's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Acosta is defended easily by Paul. Acosta tries to clinch there but Paul circles away.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Acosta will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Nice sprawl there from Acosta as Paul shoots in. Paul stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Paul wants it to stay on the feet. Acosta thows a body shot but no joy. Acosta looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Paul is fending him off so far but Acosta persists. Nope, Paul circles away and we're back to standing. Acosta takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Kenji Paul dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Paul throws a nice looking combination but Acosta bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. A chopping leg kick lands by Acosta. Acosta tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Acosta shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Paul as he jumps to the side. Acosta lands with a good body shot. Acosta is trying hard to land a takedown here. Paul sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Acosta shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Paul sprawls well. Paul wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Acosta gets slowly back to his feet. Kenji Paul has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Julian Acosta. Paul fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Acosta looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Kenji Paul is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Paul! Paul tries to buck Acosta off but he can't manage it. Paul knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Acosta on the ground. Acosta stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing. Paul tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Acosta paws at him with a jab and circles away. Paul misses with a jab, cross combination.

Nope, Paul circles away and we're back to standing. Paul is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Paul moves in looking to clinch but Acosta pushes him off.

Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Julian Acosta showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
