PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Alberto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dutch Delight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Delight has chosen Bad Reputation as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Carlos Alberto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Paul Tew and Chris Edwards.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alberto throws a head kick that misses.

Delight gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Delight makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Alberto tries to pull guard but Delight holds him up against the ropes and eventually Alberto drops back down to his feet.

Delight breaks from the clinch.
Delight throws a head kick but Alberto moves out of range.
Delight lands a jab to the nose.
Delight throws a nice inside leg kick.

Delight moves into the clinch.
A nice right hand lands inside from Delight.

Alberto ties up his opponent against the ropes and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Alberto no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Delight is looking to work some ground and pound but Alberto has wrist control.
Alberto tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Delight stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Alberto swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Delight really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Alberto. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Dutch Delight hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Delight has managed to clinch.

Alberto is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Delight.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Delight has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Alberto is working away from the top position though.

Alberto misses with a head shot. Delight uses the momentum to regain guard.

Alberto lands a couple of decent looking shots.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Alberto accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That was a close round but I would say that Carlos Alberto will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Delight doesn't manage to clinch there - Alberto circles away.
Delight is looking to slow Alberto down with leg kicks.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Alberto is defended easily by Delight.
Alberto takes a jab right on the kisser.

It looks like Carlos Alberto has been cut.

Delight clinches up with Alberto and pushes him back against the ropes.
Alberto tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Delight smiles and moves away.

Delight closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Alberto's guard.
Alberto is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Delight is controlling him.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Alberto isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Delight stacks Alberto on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Delight!
Carlos Alberto overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Alberto is trying to get back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Alberto is looking to get back to his feet here but Delight is keeping cool and he's managed to take Alberto's back.
Delight is controlling the position but Alberto somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.
Alberto is trying to maintain the position but Delight is very close to passing his half guard.

Delight seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Alberto is not content to let Delight control the position.
Delight not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Delight is trying to control the action in half guard but Alberto is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Dutch Delight has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
A nice combination there by Delight.
Delight feints a jab promting Alberto to slip. Delight then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Alberto slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Alberto is rocked!

Delight moves into the clinch.
Oh Alberto is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Delight scores with a shoulder strike.
Delight throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Albertos head.
Delight lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Delight manages to break the clinch.
No joy there for Delight, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Alberto tries to keep at a distance but Delight has taken the fight into the clinch.
Alberto tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carlos Alberto. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Delight pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Alberto drops his hands for a split second and Delight immediately capitalizes on the opportunity by smashing a powerful hook into Alberto face, sending his mouthguard sailing through the air, much to the delight of the crowd. Delight follows up with a right hand that knocks Alberto into next week. He's out cold and this fight is over!
