Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Geraldo James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tutuy Delacruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Geraldo James has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Geraldo James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Tutuy Delacruz!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Johanna Lukiainen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

James shoots in and bounces Delacruz off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
James missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
James sitting in guard, not really doing much.
James has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Geraldo James wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Delacruz tries for a takedown but James circles away easily

and James counters with a nice double leg into side control. Delacruz won't be happy with that.
Delacruz manages to work his way to half guard, despite James's best efforts.
Delacruz wants to control but James is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Delacruz is positioning himself well to prevent James advancing to mount.
Delacruz is trying to get back to full guard.
Delacruz keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Delacruz wants to control but James is keeping busy.
James lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
James throwing shots but Delacruz is blocking nicely.
James content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

James is trying to work for a kimura but Delacruz is defending well.
Delacruz avoiding damage under a succession of punches from James.
Delacruz is trying to maintain the position but James is very close to passing his half guard.
James takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Delacruz is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of James's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take James's back!
Delacruz looks gassed!
James just looking to survive in the bad position.
James rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
James is positioning himself well to prevent Delacruz advancing to mount.

James seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

We're going to have a standup here because Geraldo James wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
A nice leg kick lands there from Delacruz.
James tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Delacruz is able to avoid easily.
Delacruz stuffs the takedown attempt from James. James gets slowly back to his feet.

James closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - James lands in his opponent's guard.

Delacruz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

James decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Delacruz, up you get!

and James counters with a single leg into guard. Delacruz didn't expect that.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
James postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Delacruz can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as James controls the pace.
James lands a couple of elbows.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
James seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Geraldo James dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Delacruz moves out of range as James throws a body kick.
James tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Delacruz swivels and escapes.
Delacruz doesn't succeed with the takedown

and James counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
James slows the pace down in half guard.

James decides to stand and escape the position.
Delacruz throws a right hand that James ducks under and follows up with a left that James also avoids with ease.
Delacruz fails with the takedown

and James counters with a single leg into guard. Delacruz didn't expect that.
Delacruz is breathing heavily.

James is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
James controlling from the top position.
James chips away with some ground and pound.
James not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
James's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Geraldo James.

Delacruz tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Delacruz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with James. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

James wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Delacruz, who protects the arm well.
Delacruz wants to control but James postures up.
James in side control, just content to control the action for now.
James connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Delacruz some visible discomfort.
James is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Delacruz will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

James decides to stand up, so the ref orders Delacruz to his feet.
Tutuy Delacruz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

James is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Delacruz can do to turn this around?

James stands up and waves to Delacruz to follow him.

James drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
James cracks Delacruz with an elbow. That is naaassty.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
James postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

James decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

James drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Geraldo James dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



James feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
James is stalling in the full guard.

Geraldo James overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Delacruz has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but James can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

James gets to his feet - Delacruz follows without any prompting.

James closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Delacruz's guard.

James is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Delacruz enables James to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Delacruz manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
James is looking to work some ground and pound but Delacruz has wrist control.
James keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Delacruz's head.

Delacruz controls James momentarily but James frees himself.
James's corner is telling him to maintain position.

James is fighting to break Delacruz's control of his arms but Delacruz is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Tutuy Delacruz has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for James, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
