PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cole Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander RedDevil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Davis might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to 6 foot 7 foot. Alexander RedDevil will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cole Davis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alexander RedDevil!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Trevor Gratis and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
RedDevil doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Davis counters with a shoot takedown. RedDevil fights it but they end up in guard.
Davis postures up.
Davis looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

RedDevil is working an open guard so Davis takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
RedDevil misses with a body kick.
RedDevil wants to clinch

and Davis decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in RedDevil's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
RedDevil wants to sweep here but Davis controlling him for the moment.

Davis passes RedDevil's left leg - he's now in half guard.
RedDevil has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Davis is working away from the top position though.
Davis works his way into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Davis decides to stand back up. Davis steps back and let's RedDevil get back to his feet.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Davis.

Davis closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. RedDevil did well to prevent Davis getting side control.
RedDevil wants to get back to his feet.
RedDevil is trying to control but can't.
Davis looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks RedDevil with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Davis not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Well, if Davis is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The fight stays on the outside here - RedDevil looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

RedDevil is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Davis asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Davis stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Davis paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
RedDevil shoots in and drives through. Davis sprawls well.
Davis dives in and grabs RedDevil's left leg, looking for a takedown. RedDevil pushes down on Davis's head and hops out.
RedDevil fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Davis looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Davis is trying to push RedDevil away but RedDevil has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

RedDevil tries to score a body lock takedown but Davis shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Davis working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. RedDevil doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. RedDevil manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Davis will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

RedDevil shoots in but no luck this time.
Davis looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? RedDevil is fending him off so far but Davis persists. Nope, RedDevil circles away and we're back to standing.
RedDevil swinging wildly here.
Davis feints and then cracks RedDevil's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow RedDevil down.
RedDevil misses with the combination.
Davis stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Davis wants it to stay on the feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
No luck for RedDevil with that takedown attempt.
Cole Davis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alexander RedDevil.
Davis tries to close the distance and clinch but RedDevil swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and RedDevil holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Davis is trying to drag RedDevil to the mat but RedDevil just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
RedDevil will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Davis up against the cage.
RedDevil is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Davis lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Davis drops to a knee looking for a takedown but RedDevil gets the underhooks and prevents it.
RedDevil wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Davis has him pressed against the cage.
RedDevil keeps control of Davis as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
RedDevil wants to get back to striking at distance but Davis won't allow it.
RedDevil is trying to break the clinch but Davis is controlling him.
RedDevil jumps guard but Davis stands there with RedDevil around his waist. RedDevil gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

RedDevil wants to control from the top but Davis keeps moving.

Davis doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
RedDevil wants to control from the top but Davis keeps moving.
RedDevil has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Davis is proving hard to escape from.

Davis not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Alexander RedDevil has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
RedDevil misses with a body kick.
RedDevil fails with the takedown.
Davis shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says RedDevil as he avoids it easily.
RedDevil tries to clinch up but Davis circles away and keeps his distance.
RedDevil misses with a jab, cross combination.

Davis throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. RedDevil was covering up waiting for the punch and Davis finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Davis makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

RedDevil looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Davis stands up over RedDevil, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Davis wants to control from the top but RedDevil keeps moving.
RedDevil really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Davis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Davis wants to stand but RedDevil is controlling his posture from full guard.
Alexander RedDevil has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Cole Davis is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Davis, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
