Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rocko McGee! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Chris Hassel! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Radbod Blank and Daniel Blasius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hassel fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but McGee avoids it really well and circles away. Hassel circles away from the clinch attempt and Hassel counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. McGee closes the distance but Hassel moves to the side and Hassel counters with a left and a right that stings McGee. Hassel lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Hassel ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Hassel misses with a two punch combination.
Hassel scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. McGee doesn't seem bothered though. Hassel throws a right hand that McGee ducks under and follows up with a left that McGee also avoids with ease. McGee looks to clinch and Hassel connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Hassel with a nice cross. McGee tries to clinch up and Hassel counters with a stiff right hand. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! McGee tries to clinch up and Hassel counters with a leg kick then a big left hand that sends McGee down! Hassel is looking to finish but McGee is intelligently defending himself.
McGee is rocked! Hassel sitting in guard, not really doing much. Oh McGee is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
That's one minute gone in the round. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. McGee seems to have got his legs back now. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Chris Hassel has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. McGee slips a jab and a cross from Hassel.
McGee looks to clinch and Hassel counters with a nice double leg into side control. McGee won't be happy with that. McGee is letting Hassel control him for a moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Chris Hassel. Hassel fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McGee tries to clinch and Hassel counters with a three punch combo that has McGee backing up. McGee nods at Hassel to acknowledge the strikes. Hassel will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Hassel lands with a good body shot. McGee ducks right into an uppercut from Hassel. McGee takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Hassel lands a right hook to the body.
McGee is breathing heavily. McGee darts in trying to clinch and Hassel counters with a lovely shot to the body. Hassel throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
McGee gets caught napping as Hassel dives in and scores a takedown. McGee manages to retain guard. Hassel slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Hassel tries to free his leg and advance position but McGee is retaining full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Chris Hassel was stalling too much, according to the referee. Hassel connects with a body shot. Rocko McGee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hassel swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and McGee moves into the clinch. Hassel lands a body shot in the clinch.
McGee using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Hassel has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

The crowd are getting on Hassel's back here. They're not happy about his lack of aggression in the clinch. Hassel lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Good body shot from Hassel.
Hassel is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. McGee can't fight it off and eventually Hassel manages to take the fight to the floor. McGee looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Hassel is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chris Hassel dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Hassel lands with a straight right. McGee didn't see that one coming. Hassel closes the distance and lands a one-two. McGee tries to clinch but Hassel moves away and Hassel counters with a one-two to the body. Hassel scores with a punch to the head. A combination from Hassel does no damage. Hassel drives through with a takedown into McGee's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Hassel looking to pass the guard. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Hassel controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Hassel throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck McGee on the side of the head. Hassel lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Hassel falls off balance throwing a combination
and McGee moves into the clinch. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Hassel. McGee jumps guard but Hassel stands there with McGee around his waist. McGee gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
McGee throws a knee to the head but misses.
McGee goes for a takedown in the clinch but Hassel prevents it.
Hassel lands with a short head shot on the inside. Hassel has dropped down and is working for a takedown. McGee is trying to keep an underhook but Hassel manages to get the takedown into half guard. Hassel not doing much here.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Chris Hassel hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Hassel moves into range and connects with a jab. Hassel digs a good hook to McGee's body.
Hassel dips down and scores with a jab to the body. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Hassel misses with a jab, cross combination.
Hassel's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Hassel duly obliges. Hassel lands with a hook. McGee tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Hassel misses with a few strikes there.
Hassel throws a right and a left that both miss. McGee showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Hassel.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hassel moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
McGee is rocked! McGee closes the distance looking to clinch and Hassel cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Oh McGee is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Hassel looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for McGee! Hassel is going oldschool here, as he tries to force McGee to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so McGee shrugs it off. Hassel tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. McGee seems to have got his legs back now.

Hassel throws a combination but it was largely blocked by McGee. Hassel slaps away a takedown attempt from McGee, before circling back to the center of the mat. McGee tries to clinch up and Hassel counters with a straight punch to the midsection. McGee seems to have got his legs back now. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Hassel feints a jab promting McGee to slip. Hassel then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. McGee slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. This has been an exciting period of action! Hassel displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
That's one minute gone in the round. McGee tries to clinch but Hassel moves away and Hassel counters with a crisp right that sends McGee to the canvas! Hassel follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!
