These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matos shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Matos tries for a takedown but Mateando circles away easily
and Mateando counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Antonio Mateando has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lucas Matos.
Mateando stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mateando wants it to stay on the feet.

Mateando is trying to ground and pound but Matos uses the momentary lack of control by Mateando to regain half guard.
Matos is looking for a sweep. Mateando is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Mateando wants to control for a moment but Matos uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Mateando wants to lay and pray for a moment but Matos keeps working.

Mateando seems to be working for a kimura but Matos defends the submission attempt.

Matos is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mateando pulls his head out easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mateando knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Matos on the ground.

Matos is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Matos is in a horrible position here. Mateando smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Matos is looking to improve his position but Mateando isn't that keen on the idea.
Mateando is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Matos can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mateando wants to control the pace but Matos is squirming around nicely.

Mateando is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Matos can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Mateando seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Matos has his feet on Mateando's thighs here. He's pushed Mateando off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Mateando screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
