Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sun Tzu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jigs Dela Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jigs Dela Cruz will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sun Tzu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jigs Dela Cruz!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shirou Masuda and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dela Cruz with a lazy takedown attempt

and Tzu counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Tzu.
Tzu slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Tzu seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Dela Cruz for as long as he can get away with.

We're going to have a standup here because Sun Tzu wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Dela Cruz shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Tzu's guard.

Tzu avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Tzu has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dela Cruz can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Tzu is working hard here to advance position.

Tzu has control of Dela Cruz's left arm, preventing Dela Cruz from doing any damage.

and Dela Cruz counters with a single leg into guard. Tzu didn't expect that.

Tzu is adopting a defensive guard.
Tzu wants to control the position but Dela Cruz says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Dela Cruz blocks the strikes from Tzu.
Tzu gets full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Sun Tzu will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Tzu is on top in guard.
Tzu is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Tzu will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Tzu scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Dela Cruz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tzu. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Tzu pushes down on Dela Cruz's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Tzu perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Tzu passes to full mount!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Tzu landing strikes from the mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dela Cruz is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Dela Cruz is breathing heavily.
Tzu dominating with strikes here.
Tzu controlling the position easily from mount.
Tzu's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Tzu goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Dela Cruz turns into him and now he's in Tzu's guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sun Tzu dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Tzu fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Tzu clinches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dela Cruz fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Tzu is trying to break free.
Tzu has had enough of the clinch but Dela Cruz keeps him there for the moment.
Dela Cruz tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Dela Cruz tries to pull guard but Tzu holds him up against the cage and eventually Dela Cruz drops back down to his feet.
Sun Tzu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jigs Dela Cruz.

Tzu advances to half guard.
Tzu works his way into side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Tzu is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Dela Cruz has escaped the position, nice work there.

Dela Cruz managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Tzu.
Dela Cruz bucks up and tries to throw Tzu off but instead Tzu has got his back!
Dela Cruz takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Tzu gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tzu just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Jigs Dela Cruz has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Tzu is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Dela Cruz controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
Sun Tzu overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Sun Tzu is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

And that's the end of the fight!
Sun Tzu showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Tzu, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
