Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brad Ronald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Akimbo Jabbar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Brad Ronald has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brad Ronald!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Akimbo Jabbar!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, David Schapiro and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ronald throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Jabbar sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Jabbar gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Ronald.
Jabbar fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Ronald avoids it really well and circles away.
Jabbar shoots for a double leg takedown but Ronald sprawls well. He's pushed Jabbar's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Ronald tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Jabbar shoots in for a takedown but Ronald shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Brad Ronald has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Akimbo Jabbar.

Akimbo Jabbar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ronald rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jabbar moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

A frustrated look appears on Ronald's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Jabbar tries to pull guard but Ronald holds him up against the cage and eventually Jabbar drops back down to his feet.

Ronald lands an elbow inside that Jabbar shrugs off.

Ronald works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Jabbar avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Jabbar is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Ronald wants to control from the top but Jabbar keeps moving.
Ronald wants to get up but he can't break Jabbar's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

and Ronald counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Jabbar fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Ronald, pushing him back against the cage.
Ronald is trying to break the clinch but Jabbar has him pressed against the cage.
Jabbar wants a takedown.
Ronald lands a right hand that snaps the head of Jabbar backwards.

Ronald is pressed up against the cage. Jabbar has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Ronald down to the mat. Ronald avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Ronald lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Jabbar looks for a takedown but Ronald sprawls well.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Ronald here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Jabbar tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Ronald smiles and moves away.
Ronald lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Ronald fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Jabbar has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Ronald's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Ronald duly obliges.

Ronald is pushing Jabbar up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Brad Ronald.

and Jabbar counters with a good, hard body kick but Ronald shrugs it off.

Well Ronald has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
