Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Arturo Gatti!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 1, fighting out of New York, Chris Redfield!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Russell Pearce and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gatti tries to keep at a distance but Redfield has taken the fight into the clinch.

Redfield breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Gatti misses with a double jab

and Redfield counters with a takedown into side control.

Redfield wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gatti, who protects the arm well.
Gatti tries to bench press Redfield off him but Redfield keeps the position.

Gatti bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Redfield slips a jab and a cross from Gatti.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gatti throws a series of punches but Redfield avoids them all with ease.
Gatti displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Redfield.
Redfield throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Gatti.
Gatti throws a combination that misses

and Redfield counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Redfield.
Redfield wants to control from the top but Gatti keeps moving.
Gatti is looking to stand up but Redfield isn't so interested in that idea.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Redfield seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Redfield won't allow Gatti to get back to his feet.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Gatti is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Chris Redfield was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Gatti throws a right and a left that both miss.
Gatti lands with a nice combination. Redfield backs away looking to recover.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A combination from Gatti does no damage.
Arturo Gatti is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Gatti throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Arturo Gatti seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Redfield.
Donk. Gatti catches Redfield right on the button with a cross.
Gatti throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Redfield.
Gatti goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
A slapping leg kick lands for Redfield.
Redfield dodges the punch combination from Gatti.

Redfield fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Gatti avoids it really well and circles away.
Arturo Gatti has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris Redfield.

Redfield has closed the distance and engaged Gatti in a clinch.

Redfield gets control of Gatti's arms and successfully pulls guard. Redfield will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Gatti trying to stand up but can't free himself from Redfield's guard.

Gatti stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Redfield shoots in but no luck this time.
Redfield looks gassed!
Gatti tries to bum rush Redfield with a series of wild strikes but Redfield uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Redfield shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gatti but Gatti pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Gatti misses with a series of wild punches.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Gatti lands a left and a right that send Redfield crashing to the mat, dazed. Gatti thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Redfield is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gatti tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Redfield is still on wobbly legs! Can Gatti finish him?
Gatti misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Gatti throws a pinpoint strike between Redfield's hands that connects right on the jaw and sends Redfield crashing to the floor! He's out before he even hits the mat and Gatti scores a great knockout victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Arturo Gatti!
