Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Pearce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Wright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Wright has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Daniel Pearce's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Daniel Pearce! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Wright! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Alan Glass and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wright is looking to clinch. Pearce will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Pearce shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Wright pinned against the cage. Wright gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Pearce lands a jab-cross combination. Nice takedown defense from Wright. No joy for Pearce on that attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daniel Pearce. That's going to take a lot out of him. Wright looks to score with a jab to the body but Pearce is just out of range. Pearce tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Wright swivels and escapes. Left hook, right uppercut from Pearce. Pearce will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Pearce lands with a slapping head kick. Wright shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Pearce but Pearce pushes him off and we're back to square one. Wright bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Pearce tries to get back to half guard but can't. Pearce taking punishment in the form of punches.
Wright stands up and beckons Pearce to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pearce forces Wright back against the cage and clinches. Wright breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Pearce bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Wright tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Pearce wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Pearce wants to control but Wright is keeping him busy. A lull in the action here. Pearce tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Pearce is breathing heavily. Wright is trying to improve his position. Wright is not content to let Pearce control the position. Pearce wants to stand but Wright is controlling his arm.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wright throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Pearce tries for a takedown but Wright circles away easily and Wright counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wright sitting and controlling from the half guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Wright connects with a nice short shot to Pearce's temple. Pearce trying to get back to full guard but Wright takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount! Wright lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Wright controlling from the full mount. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Wright is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Pearce is surviving well by controlling Wright's body position as best he can. Pearce swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing. Wright takes Pearce's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Pearce is in trouble. Wright misses with a punch to the head. Wright lands strikes to the head. Pearce manages to reverse the position and now he's in Wright's guard. Nice work there by Pearce.
Pearce has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Wright is proving hard to escape from.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wright pushes Pearce off and gets back to his feet.
Wright shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Pearce as he avoids it easily. Wright wants to clinch and Pearce counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Wright's guard now. Wright wriggles free and stands up. Wright looks to score with a jab to the body but Pearce is just out of range. Pearce throws a combination that misses and Wright counters with a nice double leg into side control. Pearce won't be happy with that. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Wright working the ground and pound. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Pearce is looking to regain half guard here but Wright keeps moving and retains side control. Pearce wants to control but Wright postures up. Pearce is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Wright wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pearce keeps working. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wright fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Daniel Pearce is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Wright is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Pearce. Pearce throws a head kick that Wright semi-blocks.
Pearce misses with a takedown attempt and Wright counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Wright pulls guard effortlessly. Pearce is working Wright over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Pearce throws a big right hand that misses. Pearce wants to control from the top but Wright keeps moving. Pearce loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Pearce stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wright swivels though and keeps the full guard. Wright lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Pearce! Wright is breathing heavily. Wright landing strikes from the mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. A nice elbow there by Wright. John Wright has got the better of the ground game so far. Wright working away from the top, dropping strikes. Pearce blocking the ground and pound. Pearce tries to lock up and control but Wright gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Wright punishing his opponent with strikes. You get the feeling that Pearce really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Pearce is desperately trying to improve his position but Wright has a good base and remains in mount. Pearce tries to hold on but Wright pushes him away. Wright content just to control the position here. Pearce is in all sorts of trouble here.

Wright postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Pearce looks a forlorn figure.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Wright gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks! Pearce shoots and misses and Wright counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Wright. Pearce striking off his back but it's not causing Wright any problems. Pearce looking to control.

Pearce is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Pearce is working hard here to advance position. Wright passes the guard and advances to mount! Wright tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wright avoids the attempt from Pearce to control. Wright sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Wright fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Pearce tries to hold on but Wright pushes him away. Wright trying to control but he's not successful this time. Wright has hold of Pearce's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Pearce manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Wright lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Pearce hang on? And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Wright showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Wright walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Pearce checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Pearce fails to land the takedown. Pearce takes the fight into the clinch. Pearce wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Pearce pushes Wright up against the cage in a clinch. Wright is working for takedown but Pearce is calmly controlling the position for now. Wright tries to break the clinch but Pearce is controlling the position. Wright tries to land a knee to the head but Pearce blocks with his arms.
Pearce has picked Wright up - he's going for a ride! Pearce dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Pearce is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Pearce missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Pearce prevents Wright from improving his position. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Wright works his way to full guard. Good work. Pearce throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Wright works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Wright keeping full guard, as Pearce tries to pass.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pearce trying to control but Wright is working from the bottom. Pearce wanted to stand there but Wright had control of the position.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Pearce closes the distance and clinches. Pearce wants to break free but Wright has control.
Wright is working for takedown but Pearce is calmly controlling the position for now. Pearce prevents Wright from breaking the clinch. Pearce escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Wright walks into a left hand. Wright avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Wright shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Pearce counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Daniel Pearce has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Wright. Pearce is pushing down on Wright's leg trying to pass to half guard. Wright is fighting to maintain full guard but Pearce has managed to sneak the leg through. Wright gets full guard. Wright wants to sweep but no luck. Wright manages to escape and get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wright darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Pearce looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Wright uses his free foot to push down on Pearce's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Pearce. Wright tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Wright with a couple of short strikes. Pearce sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Pearce trying to hold on to Wright's head to control him but Wright postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Pearce is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Pearce thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Wright's head. Pearce stands up and beckons Wright to join him on the feet. Wright with a poor takedown and Pearce counters with a series of strikes. Wright will be more careful next time no doubt. Pearce shoots in for a takedown but Wright shows good takedown defense. Wright swings widly with a right hand
and Pearce counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Pearce is keen to just control but Wright is a slippery customer. Wright wants to control but Pearce is keeping busy and won't allow it. Pearce trying to control from half guard but Wright is working away. Pearce is looking to advance position but Wright won't allow it. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Wright can do anything to dispel that myth. Wright moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Pearce trying to control the position from guard on top but Wright is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Pearce fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Wright instigates a clinch. Wright drops down looking for an ankle pick but Pearce pulls his leg out and moves away.
Pearce tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Wright swivels and escapes. Pearce lands with a kick to the temple. Wright shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Daniel Pearce has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Pearce changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Wright tries to avoid it but Pearce manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Wright to the ground. Wright escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Pearce with a poor takedown and Wright counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Pearce! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Pearce tries to improve his position but instead Wright has taken his back! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Wright tries to keep control of the position but Pearce is staying busy. Pearce rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Daniel Pearce. I think Wright has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
